Monday, 19 November 2007

seven ages of rockComing to VH1 Classic TV in the US from Monday, December 17th is the excellent BBC/VH1 co-production, "The Seven Ages Of Rock". The seven part documentary series aired in the UK back in May 2007, and was a real treat for the music fan.

In particular, the second episode featured Pink Floyd heavily. With rare, vintage clips (one or two of which haven't even made it into the "unofficial collector's" realm) and new interviews with all the band members, it really is one to watch!

For those who want a flavour of the show, we have clips of the show for you, plus some more information on some of the Floydiness you will see, along with a run-down of ALL the episodes...

With a cover designed by Storm Thorgerson (click thumbnail to the right), and an incredible feast of rare pictures and info inside, it promises much for both the guitar aficionado, and the general Pink Floyd fan alike. Having chatted to Phil recently about this, the book sounds an essential purchase, and if you don't believe us, just take a look at the example pages over at the newly launched www.TheBlackStrat.com, which went live this evening!

Whilst Amazon stores are listing this truly Strat-tastic book, the limited edition tome can only be ordered directly from the special website and is now taking orders - so hurry to secure yours. Amazon won't be getting stocks, so don't bother placing an order with them... We'll be reviewing the book very shortly, so check back here soon!

rtn crisis auction spread David Gilmour's managament has revealed that some very interesting, one-off rarities have been donated for auction. The 17 items will be offered on the eBay website from Monday, November 19th, at 5pm UK time, with staggered finish times and all the proceeds from the sales will go to Crisis. This is the homelessness charity that David is vice-president of, and is a very worthy cause.

Items will include signed proofs of the various 'Remember That Night' DVD artworks including alternate versions that weren't used (click the thumbnail for examples of these), as well as a signed photograph of David with David Bowie. Here's the direct link to the items, and we hope that Brain Damage visitors can help with raising some much needed funds for the charity, whilst ending up owning some very desirable, authentic signed items...
