There's been a mass of rumours in various parts of the South American media about Roger Waters taking part in what was quickly dubbed "Latin Live 8". The rumours had the concert taking place at the end of March in Buenos Aires, with local artists such as Shakira and Soda Stereo (a big Argentinian band) also taking part. Other "Latin Live 8" concerts would also be held in Mexico, New York, and Madrid, according to press reports.
However, the organisers said today that whilst they are thinking of holding such an event, they've not been in contact with ANY artists, since there's no confirmed dates or venues. Also, the event will not be named after "Live Earth" or "Live 8" since these are registered names. Our thanks to Guillermo Beccaccini for the update.

Back in August, many of you heard the unmissable, hour-long Piper special on
Planet Rock radio, which had Guy Pratt in conversation with Richard Wright about the making of the album, the special edition of which was released on September 3rd (Europe)/4th (USA/Canada). Richard went down memory lane, going through the album track-by-track.
There's another chance to hear the show when it airs again on January 27th, at 6pm GMT. Hear Richard revealing some
fascinating stuff on how Syd wrote songs, the reaction of EMI, and how
the Beatles kept sneaking in to their sessions. You'll also find out
the significance of the phrase "duck hunt"! For more details of Planet
Rock, and how to tune in (or listen online), visit www.PlanetRock.com.

In today's Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, Nick Mason looks back at life in Pink Floyd, inspired by the recently released studio album box set, "Oh By The Way".
The interview has him in reflective mood. "I just got one of the box sets and its interest is in looking at the box, flicking through what's actually included and trying to, not make sense of it, but think about it harder, about the way there is a sort of progression where some albums drop out of the progression."
On the conflicts within the band, he said "Well, I think apart from the principals, the four or five of us, including Syd - which is a story in itself - there is an interesting thing about the way bands who survive or produce good work need a certain element of conflict quite often. You certainly need more than one person driving it. I think it's infinitely fascinating and I think there is
probably a great book to be written - but probably by a psychiatrist."
Nick talks about some of his regrets, and how, with hindsight, they would have done things a little differently, both in terms of touring and staging, and managing feelings and desires within the band. An interesting interview which can be read here.
