All of us at Brain Damage offer our heartiest best wishes to Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, who celebrates his 64th birthday today.
Nick, who this week accepted an invitation to stand as the new president of the Guild of Motoring Writers, following the death of the former president Lord Strathcarron in August 2006, has been involved in motor racing since the early 1970s and has entered Le Mans five times.
He has contributed to a number of magazines on motoring issues over the years (including a fascinating monthly column in Octane Magazine), and is a trustee of the Beaulieu National Motor Museum, and a life member and Guardian of the BRDC (British Racing Drivers Club).
Congratulations Nick - and many happy returns!

On Sunday, we told you about the new book by Marcus Hearn, through publishers Reynolds &
Hearn, called "Pink Floyd - Rex Collections".
A hotly anticipated book, it is a compilation of the best Pink Floyd pictures from the Rex Features archives, and we have some more information for you
concerning this.
The publication date for the international edition is now much sooner, and thanks to Marcus, we have some insight into how much of Rex's archives were plundered, and we even have some examples of page spreads to whet your appetites...

Many of you will recall that back on November 13th last year, we told you about an upcoming tribute to Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett, being held in his home town of Cambridge. On December 5th, the first public performance of The City Wakes, a multi-media arts tribute to Barrett, was held at the Centre at St Paul's, Hills Road, in Cambridge. The performance was a 'work in progress' towards the staging of a full production in 2008, featuring new versions of many Barrett-penned classics.
Syd's sister, Rosemary, has lent her support to The City Wakes by making a significant donation from the Syd Barrett Trust. "I am thrilled to be involved in this project. It's what Syd would have wanted." We now have more details of the full production, being held later this year...
