We recently told you about Phil Manzanera's twelve-part series for Planet Rock radio called "A is for Axe", which takes an alphabetical look at the greatest guitarists. As those who have tuned in to the first three shows have discovered, it is a wonderful, absorbing show and gives some real insights.
This coming Sunday (August 26th) brings show number 4, which features Phil playing examples from, and talking about, the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Steve Howe, George Harrison... oh, and one David Gilmour! Tune in at 8pm BST - you can listen online over at www.PlanetRock.com. If you miss it, it is repeated on Friday, August 31st, at 6pm.

We've just had confirmation of the North American publication date of the superb new book "Taken By Storm: The Album Art of Storm Thorgerson". Published in the UK at the start of May, (and reviewed here) the book is a stunning look at his past and present work, and includes around 50% of previously unseen material.
Our friends in North America will be thrilled to know that they'll only have to wait until October 30th when it arrives in their stores. Or why not preorder it here at a very healthy discount and have it delivered right to your door?

Signed prints of the simple but iconic cover shot for Pink Floyd's 1967 debut, "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" (appearing later this month as a 40th anniversary edition) are now on sale, along with three unused, alternate shots (below). The photographs, taken by Vic Singh in his London studio, show all four members of the band through a special prismatic lens.
Vic told me: "It fascinated me over the years that one picture has caught so much attention out of thousands if not millions of images." He has remained busy over the years and his redesigned website has many examples of his past and present work. More material will be added in due course.
Visit www.VicSingh.co.uk to find out more, and to place your orders.

On September 10th, almost forty years after its first appearance, is the DVD release of Tony Palmer's legendary 1968 BBC documentary, 'All My Loving'. Famed in the Floyd world for the footage of the band that was specially shot for it, the film is a powerful and, at times, disturbing
vision.
