There are unconfirmed reports that "The Best Of Roger Waters" will be released on Sony in mid-April. A facsimile that purports to be from Sony Music gives the tracklisting that if true, will see a 2002 remix of "Who Needs Information?", "Knocking On Heaven's Door" cover, "Lost Boys Calling" and "Flickering Flame" (possibly from the ITF DVD) being included, along with some videos. We stress that this is unconfirmed - more details as they become available.
For those of you who haven't heard of the great "Lost Boys Calling", here's Sony Classical's comments on the track:
The song is "Lost Boys Calling", it's Waters' newest single, and it's only available on the soundtrack to the new film "The Legend of 1900" starring Tim Roth. "Lost Boys Calling" marks an unprecedented collaboration between Waters, who wrote the lyrics and performs the vocals, legendary film composer Ennio Morricone (The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, The Mission), and guitar great Eddie Van Halen, who performs the guitar solos. Waters says "Collaborations with people on movie scores are very rare for me, but they sent me a cassette with Morricone playing the piano and singing the melody. It's such a beautiful melody, I wanted to do the song." "The Legend of 1900" soundtrack album also features the full original film score by Ennio Morricone, for which the melody from "Lost Boys Calling" is the main theme.

We have now had definite confirmation of the sad death of Bill Mason, father of Nick, on January 17th. Famous in his own right as a film maker covering his love of motor racing, his brilliant work will live on in his documentaries such as the multi-part "Shell History Of Motor Sport". I had the great fortune to chat with Bill one occasion whilst waiting for Nick to arrive in a vintage car and I was touched by his warmth and good humour. He also had a good line in anecdotes about his son! He will be sadly missed.

Pink Floyd's 'best of' compilation "Echoes" managed to shift quite a significant number of copies last year, making it to the 16th biggest selling album in the world of 2001, despite coming out at the tail end of the year. Billboard have collated sales numbers worldwide; "Echoes" sold 4.8 million copies. Top seller of the year was Dido's "No Angel" with 8.6 million copies...

Despite originally due to be published around seven years ago, but blocked, apparently by Mr Gilmour, it seems that Nick's book might finally be seeing the light of day soon. His history of the band was mentioned at the end of a BBC Radio 2 documentary last night as forthcoming... can't wait! I chatted to him about it (and other things) back in November 1994 (see interview elsewhere on this site) and it sounded like the ultimate book about the band...

The rumours are still strong that Roger (and note: NOT Pink Floyd, despite what Glastonbury owner Michael Eavis has said to various parts of the press!) will be playing on Sunday June 30th, for an hour, before headliner Rod Stewart(!). Tickets and the confirmed line up have still not been confirmed, although it seems likely that you will need a weekend ticket costing around £100, as Sunday-only tickets will be available just to local residents. As ever, watch this space...
UPDATE, February 10th: There have been many rumours that Nick Mason will be guesting at Glastonbury with Roger - how long for (ie whole show/one song?) is not known. Despite it seeming extremely unlikely, a reconciliation between the two was reported at the end of the second part of the BBC Radio 2 documentary this evening. Curiouser and curiouser!
