Tickets are now on sale for a charity concert being held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, on October 16th this year. Although the line up has not been confirmed, Roger is VERY heavily tipped to be appearing on the bill. Tickets are priced at £15, £20, £25, £30, £35, £50, £75, £100, and £150.
What might put off some people is that it is being performed in aid of the Countryside Alliance, which supports field sports (hunting with horses, etc.). Certainly in Britain, there is strong opinion on either side of the argument about allowing such activities. Anyway, we've posted an interview with Roger, held on May 13th 2000, which sets out his views on this matter... check it out!
Tickets are available from the box office on 0207 589 8212 (outside the UK: +44 207 589 8212) or from the Royal Albert Hall website.

We hear from a very good source that at least one of the tracks to appear on Volume 2 of Flickering Flame has been sorted - Set The Controls live at Wembley in June 2002, with Nick on drums. If it comes off, a nice little extra to appear.
Nick Griffiths was seen going into Wembley Arena with a large box of tricks, apparently to oversee the recording and mixing of this track for eventual release. Watch this space - nothing is confirmed yet!

The first of Roger's Wembley shows proved to be an exciting event - the rumours of Nick's guest appearance came true when his car swung into the backstage compound at Wembley Arena behind Roger's car. During the soundcheck, Nick ran through Set The Controls, Brain Damage/Eclipse, and (possibly) part of Comfortably Numb.
Come the show itself (which had the band on blistering form - from speaking to those who'd travelled round from show to show on this tour, it was one of the best performances!), Roger halted before Set The Controls for a very special announcement:

Rod Stewart, headline act on the Pyramid Stage (main stage) on the final night of the Glastonbury Festival (Sunday June 30th), is looking doubtful now due to being struck with a throat infection. He has already had to cancel a show in Dublin, and his appearance at Glastonbury hangs in the balance of how he feels, and what his doctors advise. It would therefore make sense, if he was not to show, to get Roger to increase the length of his set. Having said that, many festivals have issues keeping to time, so Rod's non-appearance (if that is indeed what happens) might just mean the final night finishes on time and the local authorities are kept happy...
UPDATE: this has now been confirmed.

This one not so exciting as the ones in the previous news story, but could be interesting to big Gilmour fans all the same. Sir Paul McCartney is to release footage of his wedding to Heather Mills - in which amongst other music legends, David Gilmour was a guest - on the end of a DVD of his (McCartney's) recent live US shows. It will be released later in the year - date to be confirmed.
As the wedding itself was shrouded in a certain amount of secrecy (and why not? It should be a private occasion) we have no idea if any guests indulged in a jam, despite a huge array of talent being present. So, you may just get a fleeting glipse of His Gilmourship resplendent in his finest gear...
