Pink Floyd at Manchester's Maine Road

Written by Matt

Monday, 17 March 2003

Oasis are to headline a concert at Manchester City's Maine Road stadium on the last day of the season to say goodbye to the ground before it is bulldozed. Blues fans Noel and Liam Gallagher will play their greatest hits on May 11, after City have taken on Southampton.

In case you were thinking you'd wandered onto the wrong website, here's what's interesting to us: "two giant screens will show classic Maine Road moments, including matches and gigs by the Rolling Stones and PINK FLOYD". Save The Rhino auction

Written by Matt

Thursday, 13 March 2003

The auction that followed the Douglas Adams Memorial Lecture (see earlier news), in aid of Save the Rhino and the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, went very well - every auction item was sold for above their reserve price which meant both the charities exceeded their estimated income.

The artwork from Pink Floyd's album "Meddle", donated by Storm Thorgerson, was finally sold for £1800, to author Ken Follett. Nick Mason and David Gilmour were both in the audience for the lecture.

Our thanks to Katy York at Save The Rhino for the info - by the way, she also said that it is possible that at the event next year more pieces could become available. Start saving now!
