Pink Floyd Knebworth 1975 programmeOur latest competition took a look back through time to the summer of 1975, when Pink Floyd performed their sole UK date for that year in front of an agog audience at Knebworth Park, in Hertfordshire.

The show's promoter, Freddy Bannister, and his wife Wendy, have put together a special offer package for Brain Damage visitors, of a reproduction programme from the event, and the t-shirt which the roadies wore for the show. Both can be bought for the special price of £14.99 plus postage, rather than the normal price of £20.40 plus postage. However, one lucky BD regular has won one of these packages!

More details of the combined package can be found at www.RockMusicMemorabilia.com, or contact Wendy at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .

To the winner though: we had masses of correct entries, but Rob Sadler from Cheshire in the UK was the lucky person drawn this time around. Well done Rob, and better luck next time to those who weren't so fortunate.

French edition of Mark Blake's Pigs Might FlyThe French language edition of "Pigs Might Fly: The Inside Story Of Pink Floyd" (known as "Comfortably Numb" in the US) by our friend Mark Blake, the English language version of which was first published in 2007 and updated in 2008, is now on sale. The book - a cracking read - has been very well received by the Floyd community.

Drawing on his own interviews with all of the band members, plus almost a hundred new interviews with the group's friends, road crew, producers, designers, former housemates and university colleagues, the book is from our perspective, a superb, incredibly detailed, and essential look at the band's history. Our review, and ordering information for other editions, here.

This new French language edition can be order direct from Amazon.fr, at a reduction from the normal retail price. They'll ship the book worldwide too, so ideal for those for whom French is their first, or preferred, language.

Cult movie with Roger Waters penned theme gets US DVD release Print E-mail

The Hit Criterion Collection DVDOne of the latest releases from the Criterion DVD company in the US is the 1984 UK cult movie, The Hit. Legendary British actor Terence Stamp is Willie, a gangster's henchman turned "supergrass" (informer) trying to live in peaceful hiding in a remote Spanish village. Sun-dappled bliss turns to nerve-racking suspense, however, when two hit men - played by a soulless John Hurt and a youthful, loose-cannon Tim Roth come to bring Willie back for execution.

With an instrumental theme co-written by Roger Waters and Eric Clapton, and a score by Clapton, it has long be sought out by Waters fans. Well, search no more, as the (region 1, NTSC format) DVD hits stores in North America yesterday (April 28th), complete with a new, restored high-definition digital transfer, commentary, interview and booklet.

For those who want to order online (and at the same time, help BD site funds), you can get it at Amazon.com saving 27% on the normal retail price, or from Amazon.ca saving 33%. Both Amazon stores will ship this disc worldwide.

Chester Kamen and Guy PrattThere's always a lot of interest when the highly-regarded musicians that David Gilmour and Roger Waters include in their bands, take to the road. Roger's guitarist, Chester Kamen, and David's bassist, Guy Pratt, have both got some interesting shows coming up that a number of you may want to attend.

Chester Kamen's new band, Modern Breakfast Quartet, make their live debut at the Inn On The Green in London's Portobello Road tonight (April 27th) at 9pm. Tickets for entrance are a very reasonable £5, and more information on the band can be found at myspace.com/modernbreakfastquartet.

Once he's done with that, he's flying over the Atlantic to join Jon Lord and Guy Pratt as they perform Jon's Concerto for Group and Orchestra in São Paolo, Brazil. The concert on May 2nd at the Virada Cultural includes the Orquestra Sinfonica Municipal, and is expected to be extremely popular. More info on that show can be found here.
