The British Music Experience, the world's only fully interactive, permanent exhibition dedicated to the history of popular music in Britain, opened today. Being held at the O2 Bubble, part of what has quickly become the world's most popular music venue, the O2, the exhibition uses cutting edge technology to immerse visitors into the sounds and sights that have made British music popular the world over.
The exhibition - more details and a preview video can be seen below - covers a huge 6,500 square metres, and more than 100 artists, including Pink Floyd, have given around £5million worth of memorabilia. Indeed, at the launch event last week, Nick Mason was seen in the Gibson Guitar Lounge at the exhibition, showing budding drummers how to keep time!

Our friends at StormStudios have been busy creating a new version of the now much-loved Back Catalogue print that celebrated key moments of Pink Floyd's album history. The new version also covers other artists that they have done pieces for, but doesn't leave out the Floyd, and the design takes in: Catherine Wheel - trees, Nice - Elegy, Umphries McGee - Onion Ladies, Rainbow, Peter Gabriel - Car, and Pink Floyd - Pulse DVD. Click the thumbnail to the left to see it in greater detail.
For a limited time, they are selling it as a limited edition (125 only, all signed, titled and numbered by Storm Thorgerson himself) giclee fine art print at the special introductory offer price of £350. More details of this, and other prints they have made available, at StormSight.co.uk.

This coming Saturday (March 14th), Italian Floyd tribute band The Time Machine will be playing at Teatro ATC in Torino, at 9pm.
At the end of the show, The Lunatics, a bunch of collectors, will show around 100 of the rarer Pink Floyd records, such as all the Japanese red vinyls, the rarest Colombian blue vinyls, some of the rarest Japanese LPs (Dark Side live cover and Ummagumma red-wax) and famous covers, all the official coloured and picture-disc records, and much more... They will also be showing some original USA Tour 1967 posters.
None of them will be for sale, simply displayed for the pleasure of all! Sounds a really nice idea... whilst there are many tribute shows all the time (and for that reason, we're unable to provide coverage of them), this is quite different and we feel definitely worthy of mention. Our very best wishes to David Gilmour today, for it marks his 63rd birthday!
Born and raised in Cambridge, David became involved with various bands in the area, principally Jokers Wild who were a popular draw when they played, before joining Pink Floyd in 1968. More recent years have seen David concentrating on his solo career, and helping out chums on their musical projects on an ad hoc basis - most recently, appearing on stage with Phil Manzanera at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club last month (more details here).
Many happy returns, David!
