News reports late Monday night talked of the Czech premiere of Roger Waters' opera, Ca Ira, taking place on May 1st. As a matter of course, we immediately checked out the validity of this with Roger's manager who advised that nothing is confirmed for ANY shows this year, and indeed, some of the reports about this show in Prague have been removed. Some still remain, though, so we thought it best to let you know.

Today (January 6th) would have seen Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett's 63rd birthday, and we're sure that like us, many will have paid their own personal tributes to him, in remembrance of the impact he had on our lives. Encyclopedia Britannica have paid their own, public tribute to him, and the following film marries up Dark Globe with an old film produced by EB:

Last Sunday (December 28th), BBC TV in the UK aired "The Real Italian Job: James Martin's Mille Miglia" where the chef - a true petrolhead - decided to make a dream reality and take part in the gruelling, 1000 mile Italian race (on open, public roads!) from Brescia to Rome and back again.
To qualify for the event, cars need to be dated between 1927 and 1957, and also need to be rather special (so Ferraris, Bugattis, Maseratis, and so on). As part of the preparation for the event, James called on two-time Mille Miglia racer Nick Mason for his advice. The BBC's iPlayer service has the show available for three more days via www.BBC.co.uk/iplayer or via Virgin Media's digital cable service. (Thanks to Jason Pyke for the head's up!)
