Roger Waters in new Guitar World Magazine Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Thursday, 23 December 2004

US site MediaPost.com is reporting that the 25th anniversary issue of Guitar World magazine will be on newsstands this coming Tuesday, December 28th. The special collector's issue features what the editors are calling "the most spectacular group of guitarists ever assembled" on the cover, including Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Joe Perry (Aerosmith), and Slash (Velvet Revolver, ex-Guns'n'Roses).

Of particular interest to Pink Floyd fans is that alongside interviews with such legendary groups as the aforementioned Led Zep, Van Halen, Nirvana and Metallica, none other than Roger Waters provides a tutorial on guitar playing. A CD featuring lessons for playing 10 classic guitar riffs is polybagged with the issue as well.

The current issue (the cover for the 25th anniversary issue was not available at time of writing this), has a large feature on the boys - as we reported a month ago. The Guitar World editors wrote of the feature: "join Guitar World and the members of Pink Floyd as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Wall, the weirdest, scariest and best concept album ever conceived. PLUS Roger Waters on taking The Wall to Broadway." This issue is currently on newsstands and available overseas in selected outlets as an import.

A new campaign organised by Blues musician Matt Schofield to raise money for the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy charity, which uses instruments to help sick or disabled children and adults, has enlisted a number of musicians including Pink Floyd's Nick Mason, the BBC news site reports.

The rock, pop, jazz and classical musicians - and Sir Patrick Moore - have been remembering their first foray into the world of music as part of a campaign to encourage parents to buy instruments for their children. Jazz musician Courtney Pine recalls his friends "laughing their heads off" when he tried out his first saxophone, while Nick Mason remembers saving up his shillings for his first drum kit...
