Rare Pink Floyd live pictures - new book reviewed Print E-mail

Late last year, a new book was published by Apach Edition in Belgium. Showcasing the rock concert photography of Paul Coerten, the book is his tribute to the rock of the 1970s and 1980s - "the best of his archives". With 80% of the pictures never previously having been published, the book has been released to coincide with rock music's 50th anniversary. There's more than 120 bands and major musicians included, and over 400 images.

Of particular interest to us are a number of rare pictures of Pink Floyd live in Antwerp, during the 1977 Animals tour. And, with thanks to the publishers, we have a selection of these Floyd pictures, and one exclusive shot of Roger Waters that doesn't appear in the book, to share with you. They should give you a flavour of what to expect in the book...

It is a big, glossy and expensive publication, but is it worth tracking down? To give you an idea, read our review through this link, which also has the picture selection.

Roger Waters appears in Tsunami Aid: A Concert Of Hope TV show Print E-mail

Last night (January 15th) saw former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters performing a wonderful melancholic version of "Wish You Were Here" acoustically with Eric Clapton, with the help of backing singers Katie Kissoon, Carol Kenyon and PP Arnold, as part of NBC's charity gala, Tsunami Aid: A Concert Of Hope.

The performance, which was not shown live, having been pre-recorded at the NBC studio in New York City, featured Roger and Eric sat on stools, playing acoustic guitars, with the lyric delivered in a quiet and almost mournful style which suited the occasion perfectly. Eric chose to simply play guitar, and the subtle backing vocal of Katie, Carol, and PP, complemented the respectful reading of the Floyd classic.
