Pink Floyd snubbed by Brit committee Print E-mail

Pink Floyd's contribution to British music has been snubbed by the BRIT Award committee, which Virgin Radio's Ben Jones has called "scandalous"!

To mark the forthcoming 25th ceremony in the history of the BRIT Awards, a panel made up of members of the music industry and media came up with a shortlist of 25 singles, all of which performed by a British act since 1977. BBC Radio 2 listeners will be asked to vote for their top five favourites from the 25.

However, the shortlist has raised many eyebrows for the strange inclusions, and even stranger exclusions...

New book about Pink Floyd's festivals - and win a copy! Print E-mail

Shown to the right is the cover of a new book by legendary rock festival promoter Freddy Bannister, called "There Must Be A Better Way". The 330 page paperback book, with over 85 illustrations, combines the two fascinating books from the Bath and Knebworth Festival Commemorative Sets, which include Pink Floyd's involvement and are reviewed elsewhere on these pages in the past.

Another Brick teacher interviewed in Australia Print E-mail

The Australian newspaper, the Sydney Morning Herald of December 30th, had a long interview with the music teacher of Islington Green School, Alun Renshaw, who provided the kids choir for Pink Floyd's Another Brick In The Wall.

The interview, which can be read in full at their website, is an interesting look at the creation of the recording, and the reaction of those within the school, and also in the public eye (such as Prime Minister of the time, Margaret Thatcher)...

Nick Mason's book "Inside Out - A Personal History Of Pink Floyd" is now on sale in the UK, Canada, and a few other countries, is a truly essential purchase - and if you've not been fortunate enough to get your hands on a copy, we've got news of how you can get hold of it for a bargain price.

For a limited time, Amazon UK are offering it for an incredible £12 a copy - believed to be well below the retailers cost price of the book! Be quick as we guess that they won't last long at this price (the normal price of the book is £30!). They will ship the book worldwide...

Alternatively, signed and dedicated books are still being offered to UK fans, using the order form found in our side menu, but be aware that this is a time limited offer. The books are priced at £30 plus shipping, and for those of you who have asked the question, it is DEFINITELY Nick that is signing these!

Pink Floyd in UK Classic Rock Radio poll Print E-mail

UK digital radio station Planet Rock recently asked their listeners to vote on the Top 100 Classic Rock Songs of all time. They asked them to vote for their top 5 favourite rock songs, and Pink Floyd figured well in the overall results.
