Fifty years ago, Leo Fender created an electric guitar which changed the face of popular music. In "Fender Heaven" to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on Saturday May 22nd, at 10:30am BST, David
Stafford tells the intriguing story of Leo Fender's invention, analyses why it rose into one of the great symbols of modern America, and looks at its sociological importance. Stars including Pink
Floyd's David Gilmour, Joan Armatrading, Johnny Marr, Jeff Beck and Hank Marvin joined Stafford in this birthday tribute.
In common with most BBC radio programmes, it should be available to listen to "on demand" for a week after being aired. We will of course publish the link once it is known, so that you all can hear it...

The Dutch Wharf Festival (Festival Aan De Werf), to be held in Utrecht, Netherlands from May 20th to 29th, includes a show called Reiziger In Space. The show takes place on May 20th and 21st, at
9:30pm.
Han Reiziger is a long time editor for VPRO, who have recorded many of Pink Floyd's shows in the
past, including the notorious Concertgebouw concert of September 17th 1969. He will discuss the Sixties with Spinvis mainman Erik De Jong. Their on stage conversation will be supported by exclusive video material of acts like Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Soft Machine, Canned Heat, Deep Purple, The Monk, and most importantly, Pink Floyd, as well as other rarities from the VPRO archives.
The exact nature of the rare footage is unknown at the moment, and the official festival site gives no clues. However, our friend Charles from the great FloydStuff.com (the best place to buy your Floyd rarities!) will be attending and has offered us a review of the event. Thanks Charles!

Further to previous news items about the French Crossroads Guitar Festival, we have been made aware of fresh claims that David Gilmour will be appearing at the show in Paris, next month.
To clear the matter up, we spoke with Pink Floyd Management (formerly known as EMKA) this afternoon.
After speaking with David himself, they confirmed that David is definitely NOT appearing at the show, despite claims to the contrary. This situation will not change, so if you see fresh claims that he will appear, please ignore them! We have also had confirmation from the Olympia in Paris that David is not appearing as part of the line-up.
Our thanks to PFM for their help in clarifying this matter.
