UPDATE: 8:20pm BST: BOTH SHOWS HAVE NOW BEEN CANCELLED.
David Gilmour was due to play the first of two shows in the glorious Piazza San Marco in Venezia (Venice), Italy tonight.
At around 5pm, just before the
soundcheck for the show, a structural defect was found in the
scaffolding of the stage, which has rendered the whole structure
unsafe.

Syd Barrett's sister, Rosemary
Breen, yesterday revealed that she had been overwhelmed by the tributes
paid to her brother, who sadly passed away on July 7th.
Speaking to the Cambridge Evening
News, she said that she'd been inundated with cards and letters of
support from fans all over the world.

Our friends in the Netherlands have
an aural treat tomorrow night. Dutch station Radio 2 are broadcasting a
string of legendary concerts, and those who tune in at 10pm will hear
Pink Floyd performing part of their 1969 Concertgebouw show.

The September 2006 issue of the UK's Uncut Magazine is a special tribute to Syd Barrett, who sadly passed away on July 7th.
The founder of Pink Floyd is
featured on a thirteen page spread inside, with a large selection of
pictures from his friend Mick Rock and others, alongside a celebration
of his life and music from those who knew, loved and were inspired by
him.
