A special, four part, hour-long radio special on David Gilmour's newly released Live In Gdansk is airing on many US radio stations today (Sunday), or on Tuesday, depending on the radio station's schedules. As a mark of respect, they have included a short tribute to Richard Wright at the start of the show.
David's Blog has a long list of the participating radio stations here, but should you wish to listen to the show on demand (and worldwide, too) via the internet, all four parts can be heard now at Nashville's 105.9 The Rock website.

"Sometimes, I'd sit down at rehearsal or sound check and play something, improvise a little, and David would come over and say, 'What was that? It's really good!', and I'd say, 'I have no idea, I can't repeat it.' Sometimes I play something, and I haven't recorded it, and I don't know where it came from, why my hands did what they did, what key it was in, anything. For me, playing music is like meditating – I just play and don't really think about what I'm doing, I just let it happen. And those moments can be really, really precious." - Richard Wright
UK newspapers The Independent and The Times have today both included major tributes to Richard Wright within their pages. The Independent takes a long look at what made Pink Floyd so special, with contributions from the band members including Richard (a wonderful quote from whom is above). It also includes Nick Mason's tribute to his friend. The Times includes one of the last ever interviews with Richard, with him looking back at the band and puzzling at their popularity.

The very sad loss of Richard Wright yesterday has reverberated around the world, with friends and fans alike paying their heartfelt tributes to him. We've received many emails from fans worldwide, who have asked us to pass on their messages of condolences, and we are collating these now.
Through the pages of his website, David Gilmour has paid public tribute to Richard, who he called "my musical partner and my friend. In the welter of arguments about who or what was Pink Floyd, Rick's enormous input was frequently forgotten.
"He was gentle, unassuming and private but his soulful voice and playing were vital, magical components of our most recognised Pink Floyd sound.

Storm Studios, designers of some of Pink Floyd's most famous album covers, including Dark Side of the Moon, Atom Heart Mother, and Wish You Were Here, have been busy again. They've created a thought provoking new poster [click thumbnail; far left] especially for The City Wakes tribute to Syd Barrett.
Also, as we've mentioned previously, Storm Thorgerson will be exhibiting Mind Over Matter: The Images of Pink Floyd at The Grand Arcade throughout The City Wakes. This will be the first time that Storm's work has been exhibited in his hometown of Cambridge.
Mind Over Matter opens on October 9th and runs until November 10th, 2008, and is free to visit. Visit The City Wakes website for more information on ALL the Syd Barrett tribute events, including Storm's exhibition.
