Guy Pratt interviewed in new magazine Print E-mail

The new issue (cover date Sep/Oct 2006) has just hit the UK shelves, and features a fascinating interview with Guy Pratt, who has worked with Pink Floyd since 1987 and, of course, most recently toured with David Gilmour.

Conducted in Windsor, where Guy was performing one of his great "My Bass and Other Animals" solo shows, the interview is a fascinating whistle-stop look at his career, talking of how he has got work with various top musicians over the years.

Storm Thorgerson - Taken By Storm exhibition Print E-mail

Further to our previous news items about the "Taken By Storm: The Art of Storm Thorgerson" exhibition, we now have a collection of dates and venues in the US and Europe of forthcoming showings.

The exhibition features many of Storm's classic Floyd images alongside work for other bands such as Muse, Mars Volta and The Cranberries. It features a wealth of absorbing images, and is a great look through Storm's career to date - certainly not to be missed.

Sadly, PP (Pat) Arnold's father has passed away, just 3 months after Pat's mother. They were married for almost 64 years and will now be together again. Pat thanks everyone for their prayers and good wishes, and our thoughts are with her and her family at this sad time. She is obviously due to perform at Roger Waters' upcoming US shows, and it isn't known at this time if this will delay her rejoining the tour. Our thanks to José Abellán for passing on the information from Pat.

 
David at Abbey Road - more details Print E-mail

More details have emerged of David Gilmour's appearance in front of a tiny, invited audience at London's Abbey Road Studios, courtesy of his own website.

David and his full touring band were in Studio One, the largest at the Studios, on Tuesday, August 29th. Studio One is where many classic orchestral scores and recordings have been made over the years, from film soundtracks through to orchestral segments on David's "On An Island" album.

Following on from our story of August 24th, concerning the sale of items from the estate of Syd Barrett, including signed artwork never seen before, his home was put on the market this weekend by Cheffins, the auctioneers.

The property particulars include an unexpected addition - a section written by Rosemary Breen (nee Barrett, Roger's sister) about her brother and his life, with a focus on the house.
