The Games for May concert, which took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall
on May 12th 1967, was one of the most significant concerts held by Pink
Floyd. Described as a "Space age relaxation for the climax of spring -
electronic composition, colour and image projection, girls and the Pink
Floyd", the show has become one of the legendary events that many fans
would love to have seen.
To mark the fortieth anniversary of the concert, a selection of
musicians are recreating the concert in a pair of shows being held at
the end of this month, at the venue which saw the original show.

New
Line have announced the DVD release of the movie, The Last Mimzy. As
many of you are aware, Roger Waters wrote and performed a new song -
"Hello (I Love You)" - specifically for the film (more details here
of the CD single). The DVD, which will be in US stores on July 10th,
features all the normal bells and whistles one expects with modern DVD
releases, but of interest to Roger's fans is the good news that the
promo video for the song, which shows Roger in the studio recording the
song, will be included amongst the extras. Orders for the DVD can be
placed through Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk soon. (Our thanks to Kees Nijpels for the info!)

A
number of the guests and musicians taking part in the Syd Barrett
tribute evening in London on May 10th (the day before Roger Waters
plays the first of two nights at London's Earls Court) have now been
announced.
Tickets for the event, being held at the Barbican Hall, are going fast
and at time of writing, just a single ticket is left in the stalls!
There are still circle and balcony tickets though, if you act quickly...

The wonderful Storm Thorgerson, Pink Floyd's album cover designer through most of their career, was the subject of a fascinating interview in The Times yesterday.
Tying in with his stunning, and essential, new book, Taken By Storm (more details below), the interview touched on a number of subjects, not least talking of a couple of suggested Pink Floyd projects that will excite many if they come to fruition!

We know many of you are interested in that great Canadian band, Rush. They are just releasing their new album (supposed to be superb) called "Snakes and Arrows", and we hear that amongst the "thank yous" in the credits is one for our own David Gilmour.
We've done some digging to find out why, and it turns out David chatted with Alex Lifeson about writing using acoustic guitar (download an interview clip here). Alex then used that conversation to encourage himself to use acoustic in writing the new S&A songs. (Our thanks to Eric from Power Windows, and to Bert)
