More artwork for you, with the news that Storm Thorgerson has been busy creating again. He has taken another look at the "Back Catalogue" concept which he has been developing since EMI commissioned him to create an image to promote the Pink Floyd's albums. This time, he has been busy in South Africa, and his latest take on the idea [click thumbnail, right] - entitled "Outback Catalogue" - includes not just the Syd Barrett-esque "Pink Floyd - Tree of Half Life" but covers he created for Genesis (Lamb Lies Down), the Cranberries, and Mars Volta.
It is available to buy from Stormsight.co.uk as a fine art limited edition print, signed, titled and numbered by Storm himself. Should be another popular image amongst Storm's many enthusiastic fans worldwide.

Some of you will recall the impressive set of Pink Floyd tattoos that we recently featured on the site. Well, that has seemingly inspired others to share their own, very personal body-art with us (and the Floyd community too). We've had a few additional contributions now, and have today set up a special page devoted to Floyd tats! You can see it here (or have a wander through the gallery, where you'll see other art created by fans of the band). If YOU'VE got some interesting tattoos featuring the band and/or their artwork, we'd love to see them - please

On October 16th we reported that the Flaming Lips were to release a cover version of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon. For those of you interested in this developing story, we've got a couple of updates for you.
First, for those eager for the release of the already recorded opus: according to the new issue of Rolling Stone, their remake will be released before Christmas as a digital release only (iTunes, etc.).
Second, the band are performing a special New Year's Eve concert in Downtown Oklahoma City's Cox Center, which will feature - starting at midnight - a special performance of TDSOTM as the perfect start to 2010 for those attending! Click the thumbnail for the event poster.
Our thanks to regular Brain Damage contributor Stephen Humphries for the info.

Our congratulations to the team behind the incredible 3D laser prism that formed the climax of Roger Waters' 2008 The Dark Side Of The Moon tour - the effect won an award in the prestigious 2009 ILDA Awards. The ceremony, held in Amsterdam, saw the International Laser Display Association give the industry's equivalent of a Hollywood Oscar to the design team for first place in the Live Stage Performance category.
For those who weren't able to see the show, the world's largest full-colour lasers re-created the iconic Pink Floyd prism in laser light. The famous cover artwork from DSOTM was concepualized as a laser artform by lighting designer Marc Brickman, and realised by Lightwave International and ETG. Over 100 Watts of full colour lasers were used to magically transform an abstract set piece into a rotating tetrahedron towering above the audience. There, it rotated and emitted Pink Floyd's famous white beam and rainbow.
Lightwave International's website has a detailed page on the prism, with a number of great pictures and also a video showing how the prism was constructed (and what it looked like in action).
