Our very best wishes to David Gilmour today, who will be celebrating his 64th birthday!
Born and raised in Cambridge, David became involved with various bands in the area, principally Jokers Wild who were a popular draw when they played, before joining Pink Floyd in 1968. More recent years have seen David concentrating on his solo career, and helping out chums on their
musical projects on an ad hoc basis - most recently, appearing on stage with Phil Manzanera at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, with Amadou & Mariam at the Crisis "hidden" charity show, and with Jeff Beck at the Royal Albert Hall.
Many happy returns, David!

Our very best wishes go to Snowy White today (March 3rd), to mark his 62nd birthday!
Snowy, who in the last few years performed with Roger Waters on his Dark Side of the Moon tour, and has recently been touring with his own band to much acclaim, has had a long history with Roger and Pink Floyd.
Recording a guitar part in 1976 to bridge Pigs On The Wing 1 & 2 on the Animals album 8-track cartridge, he also played on the 1977 Animals tour, on Richard Wright's Wet Dream album (1978), and The Wall concerts of 1980.
After devoting a lot of time to solo material in the early eighties, he started work with Roger Waters on his solo material and has been a key member of his band ever since. He has been busy on his own projects, too, with his band The Snowy White Blues Project thrilling audiences across the UK and Europe.
Have a great day, Snowy!

Rafael Viñoly Architects have unveiled some spectacular new plans [click thumbnail, right] for the proposed future of the derelict Battersea Power Station, an icon for Pink Floyd fans due to the cover of 1977's Animals album.
The masterplan for BPS – a Grade-II listed, large former electric power plant along The River Thames – aims to create a mixed-use sustainable development offering commercial and retail functions as well as residential, cultural, and event spaces interspersed with community facilities and a zero-carbon energy plant for the adaptive reuse of the power station itself. Thankfully, the iconic historic structure of the Power Station functions as the focal point of the site's regeneration; other plans have seen the possibility of the towers coming down. Completion looks to be in the year 2020.
We have, of course, seen a multitude of different plans over the years, including a Warner Bros/Planet Hollywood backed scheme in 1997 which seemed most promising, but all have floundered. Will this new scheme, beautiful though it is, be the exception, and breathe new life into the old girl? Time, as ever, will tell...
