Proof that you can't keep a good show down: Guy Pratt is performing one more of his acclaimed and hilarious "Breakfast of Idiots" solo stand-up shows. This time, he is taking his breath-taking anecdotes of working with the likes of Pink Floyd and David Gilmour, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Jimmy Page and David Coverdale, and more, to the people of Bristol, where he'll be presenting his show at the Metropolis on Thursday, March 11th [click thumbnail, right].
The doors open at 7:30pm, and the show is due to start at 9pm. There is what the venue are calling a "full and frank" Q&A session that follows the show. As Guy himself told us, the show "should be fun"! Please note that entry to the show is only for those aged 18 and above, and tickets are on sale now.
The show is the perfect companion to his unmissable book, "My Bass And Other Animals" which if you don't already have, you really shouldn't wait any longer before you snap it up! Read our review here.

The incredibly important charity Cancer Research UK is holding a special Sound & Vision event on February 25th. Very limited tickets are available for the event celebrating rock, pop, the people who make it and the images it inspires, with an intimate audience with Robert Plant and David Gray at Abbey Road Studios.
Along with this event, a charity auction is running here on eBay, with a wide range of items currently on offer, and soon to be available for bidding. Amongst the items are a Fender guitar signed by performers at the O2 Wireless Festival 2009, a unique Led Zeppelin II cymbal played at the reunion concert and signed by Jason Bonham, and a tour of Abbey Road with Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer Sir George Martin.
Also, starting on February 14th is a specially framed CD presentation of Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side Of The Moon" signed by Roger Waters [click thumbnail, left]. Blurred Vision, headed by two Iranian Canadian brothers, have recorded a cover version of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall, part II", in support of the youth and freedom movement in Iran, and to help galvanise the international community to stand in solidarity with the youth of Iran, fighting a repressive regime to gain their freedom.
Having gained the approval of Roger Waters to record the track, which is subtitled "Hey Ayatollah, Leave Those Kids Alone!", the song is the band's first commercial release, produced by legendary rock producer Terry Brown and released by Canadian independent label, C12 Records (distributed by EMI Records).
The video, shown below, was a collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Babak Payami to visualize their interpretation of the song:

As most of you are aware, there are many Pink Floyd tribute bands and shows across the world, bringing good music (played with varying degrees of success!) to local pubs, clubs, halls and even major arenas. With the sheer number of them, it is impossible to provide coverage of these bands, but occasionally there are rare exceptions.
However, the Australian Pink Floyd show are old friends - they first performed in the UK back in 1993 at the debut Brain Damage fan convention - and they are just about to start another major tour of the UK. And thanks to the promoters, three lucky Brain Damage visitors will each get a pair of tickets to a show of their choice!

Following on from their acclaimed New Year's Eve performance, The Flaming Lips will again perform their rendition of Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon" in its entirety at a US festival. Frontman Wayne Coyne revealed the news to the Spinner website. "As of yesterday [February 1st], we're gonna do it at Bonnaroo at the midnight slot, the first night. We do a Flaming Lips set then starting about 2:30 we do this 'Dark Side of the Moon' thing. In that sense, it's perfect for that. It lets you play a little bit longer."
The band's New Year's Eve performance of the classic album was supposed to be its one and only live airing. "We feared it could be because we thought, 'Well, if it's horrible we'll be glad we only did it once and it will grow in its infamy or whatever. But no, we considered if this record did in the end come out and people liked it and we were able to pull off this New Year's Eve thing, then we thought, 'Well, we could probably do that other places.'"
Bonnaroo takes place in Manchester, Tennessee, between June 10th-13th, and tickets go on sales at noon EST on February 9th.
