Friday, 22 June 2012

The 2012 Roger Waters 2012 Wall Live tour is continuing to entertain and enthrall audiences across North America, with show number 58 having taken place last night in Buffalo, New York. As many of you know, we've been covering each and every show on the tour (and the 2010, and 2011 tours) in as much detail as we can, with pictures, reviews, and information on each concert.

Our specifics that we were hoping someone can help with (for the Grand Rapids show on June 6th, and the Raleigh show on July 9th) have now been fulfilled by some kind BD visitors. However, we're always after your thoughts, pictures and more about any of the shows - past or present - so if you can help, please get in touch at the normal email address of This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Many thanks!

Tonite Let's All Make Love In London - 2012 Japanese editionOne for the collectors out there - the soundtrack album for the 1967 Peter Whitehead film, 'Tonite Let's All Make Love In London', gets a special CD release next month in Japan.

The film looked at the "swinging London" scene of the sixties, and is based around a series of psychedelic performances and interviews and features performance by Pink Floyd, together with footage of John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Mick Jagger, Vanessa Redgrave, Lee Marvin, Julie Christie, Allen Ginsberg, Eric Burdon, Michael Caine and many others.

This limited edition version of the album (appearing on July 25th, 2012) comes in a cardboard sleeve, a replica of the original UK LP. The CD itself is in the high-fidelity HQCD format (compatible with standard CD players) with K2HD mastering. It includes newly written liner notes and lyrics, and the Floyd tracks found on the album (unavailable elsewhere) are a 17-minute version of Interstellar Overdrive, two short reprises of the track, and the lesser-known track Nick's Boogie.

For those who want to add this to their collection, you can pre-order the release now from Amazon Japan and also CDJapan, both of which ship internationally. Our thanks to Kees Nijpels for letting us know about this upcoming release.

Pink Floyd's Eclipse included in Olympics opening ceremony? Print E-mail

The UK's Daily Telegraph has revealed what appears to be Creative Director of the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony Danny Boyle's 86-song soundtrack for the event.

An interesting and eclectic selection of some of the best (and some of the more questionable) British music from over the years includes contemporary artists alongside classic artists such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and...Pink Floyd. The concluding track, Eclipse, from 1973's The Dark Side Of The Moon appears in the final segment, nestled between Abide With Me, and The End from The Beatles Abbey Road album.

You can read the full tracklisting at the Telegraph website. They do make it clear that "officials will not confirm that the playlist is the official soundtrack for the opening ceremony on July 27 but it appears to be a good indication of what to expect".

Venice member Michael Lennon has spent the last week in Florida, visiting his band mates, brother Mark and cousins Kipp and Pat, on the Wall tour, sharing their hotel, riding on the private jet, and taking in all of the Wall concerts. He's been posting pictures, videos and updates on Venice's Facebook page, facebook.com/venicetheband. One recent entry provided an intimate glimpse into Saturday's soundcheck in Orlando:

Tonight (Monday), the four members of Venice will perform an opening set for the Harry Waters Quartet at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, FL which we mentioned the other day. Wall vocalist Robbie Wyckoff will also be a part of this show.

Then on Wednesday, June 20th, the night after Roger Waters brings his Wall tour to Nashville, TN, Venice will perform a one hour set with no band, only acoustic guitars and voices, at Nashville's 12th & Porter. (114 12th Ave. N.) So those amazing harmonies that Roger Waters fans have been enjoying all over the world these past two years will be front and center. Tickets are still available for both nights.

UPDATE: Here's a video, courtesy of adam @ CHeeSeHeaDPRoDuCTioNS, from last night's Harry Waters/Venice show at Revolution Live, showcasing "Goodbye Blue Sky" and "The Show Must Go On":
