We've received an update from EMKA, Pink Floyd's management, regarding the reissue and remaster of The Final Cut. Contrary to EMI Italy's press release, shown below, EMKA confirm that there is a new, 16-page booklet featuring all original sleeve artwork, designed by Roger Waters, to accompany the album. The album has been remastered by James Guthrie, and will definitely be available in the UK on March 22nd.

The 1970 BBC session that Syd Barrett did is gaining another release, on March 29th. Originally released
in 1988, on a 12" single and CD single (which is pictured to the right), it was subsequently re-released on CD only in 1989. Some fifteen years later, it is making another appearance on CD!
At present, we believe it contains the same material as before: Terrapin, Gigolo Aunt, Baby Lemonade, Effervescing Elephant, and Two Of A Kind. The session was a good one, and also featured David Gilmour on bass (Syd providing the main guitar duties), and Jerry Shirley on drums. As and when we get more info on this release, we will let you know... Our thanks to Charles at FloydStuff for the advance warning!

The charity concert at London's Royal Albert Hall on April 1st, mentioned previously on these pages, is gathering momentum and guest stars! With thanks to Phil, the following scan [image no longer available] shows the current line-up for what promises to be a very interesting evening! Amongst the artists involved in the show, for the Teenage Cancer Trust, are Jools Holland and David Gilmour. Tickets are still available for the show, from The Royal Albert Hall and all other normal ticket outlets.

It was reported today that one of '60s soul music's legendary female stars, Doris Troy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (February 16th) in Las Vegas following a lengthy bout of emphysema.
Born Doris Higginson in 1937, the daughter of a Baptist preacher, she was perhaps best known for her hits "Just One Look" (1963), "What'Cha Gonna Do About It" (1964), and of course as one of the vocalists on Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon. The funeral is being held in New York City on Monday February 23rd. Our condolences to her family and friends.
