Pink Floyd: The Story Of Wish You Were Here DVD/Blu-rayLast month, we gave you details of the upcoming "Pink Floyd: The Story Of Wish You Were Here" Blu-ray and DVD. Released by Eagle Vision HD, the title is coming out on both formats on June 25th in the UK, and June 26th in North America. Other areas should follow suit around those dates.

Those of you in the UK (and parts of Europe) will get to see the documentary later this month, courtesy of BBC Four TV. They are showing the full 60 minute documentary which will appear on DVD/Blu-ray. The DVD/Blu-ray will include some additional, extra footage, totalling around 25 minutes.

To recap, The Story Of Wish You Were Here tells about the making of this landmark release through new interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason and archive interviews with the late Richard Wright. Also featured are sleeve designer Storm Thorgerson, guest vocalist Roy Harper, front cover burning man Ronnie Rondell and others involved in the creation of the album. In addition, original recording engineer Brian Humphries revisits the master tapes at Abbey Road Studios to illustrate aspects of the songs construction. The additional bonus material on the DVD and blu-ray releases, and not aired in the TV broadcast version, include further interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason, plus Roger and David performing excerpts from the Wish You Were Here album.

To catch the broadcast, tune in to BBC Four TV (available via Freeview, digital cable and satellite) on Friday, May 25th, at 9pm. There are two additional opportunities to see it, on Saturday, May 26th at 1am, and Sunday, May 27th at 11:40pm. Our thanks to Matthew Samuel for alerting us to this.

If you want to pre-order the DVD and Blu-ray, you can use the following links to save up to 30% off normal price for the Blu-ray, from Amazon UK, Amazon.com (US), Amazon Canada, and Amazon.de (Germany).

The DVD can be pre-ordered from Amazon UK, Amazon.com (US), Amazon Canada, and Amazon.de (Germany), again saving up to 30% on normal price. Jim LaddOur friends in the US with access to Sirius XM will be in for a treat tomorrow evening (Thursday, May 17th), as Roger Waters will be the guest of legendary radio DJ Jim Ladd, live in the studio, for what is currently being billed as a four-hour interview!

Jim has long been a friend of Roger's, and of course appears on his 1987 solo album, Radio KAOS. Jim is now a DJ on Sirius XM Radio's Deep Tracks (channel 27). The show is due to start at 7pm EST, and based on previous interviews, should definitely be worth tuning in to.

Subject matter will naturally be assumed to centre on his current tour of The Wall. Presumably, subjects such as the live DVD/Blu-ray will also come up, along with The Wall On Broadway, and other future plans...

New audio interview with David Gilmour, concerning DSOTM Print E-mail

In an exclusive interview for high50.com, David Gilmour gives high50 editor Tim Willis an insight into his approach to recording – particularly of Dark Side of The Moon. The interview, which consists of a set of three audio files totalling around 25 minutes, is a fascinating chat about the creation of the album. Recorded at David's Sussex farmhouse one morning in March, it really is worth a listen.

To do so, you will need to register for their website, although this is painless and requires very little information or commitment on your part.

As a reminder, Tim Willis is the author of Madcap: The Half Life of Syd Barrett, Pink Floyd's Lost Genius, which was published around 10 years ago.

Storm Thorgerson at exhibition launch in LondonAs many of you know, recently published was The Raging Storm - The Album Graphics of StormStudios, the latest, absorbing book from legendary graphic designer, Storm Thorgerson, and his team. Associated with Pink Floyd since 1968, Storm, along with his colleagues Hipgnosis and more recently StormStudios, has provided most of the Floyd's album cover art along with other key imagery. Storm himself is a much respected personality within the world of Pink Floyd, his contribution a key part of their story.

The Raging Storm is a collection of many pieces that StormStudios have completed for various artists over the past four years - not just for bands such as Pink Floyd, but more recent artists too, all of whom have been inspired to use StormStudios thanks to their painstaking approach to the work, creating often big and bold, unforgettable images, with a sense of humour or a cryptic note infusing each image.

The work is now to be celebrated in an exhibition that runs between July 12th-29th, 2012, at the gallery@oxo at the iconic Oxo Tower Wharf - a landmark along the River Thames for many years. The exhibition is free, and open 11am-6pm daily. To whet your whistle prior to arriving at the gallery (or indeed if you are unable to attend), check out our extensive, exclusive interview with Storm.

As a side note, the first week of the exhibition coincides with the photographic retrospective of the movie of Pink Floyd The Wall, so if you are considering a trip to London, mid July would be an ideal time - seeing two exhibitions whilst you are there.
