Wish You Were HereTo help celebrate the release of the second stage of the Why Pink Floyd remaster campaign - A Foot In The Door (the "best of" compilation) and Wish You Were Here as an Experience, Immersion, and vinyl edition, the respected US radio broadcaster Redbeard is airing a special show this week in North America. His "In The Studio" specials have built a great reputation due to their mix of detailed interview and music, and in September he aired a special show looking at the recent release of The Dark Side Of The Moon in expanded editions.

This week's show focuses on Wish You Were Here, which (along with A Foot...) is coming out on Monday, November 7th (Tuesday, November 8th in the US). Redbeard interviews David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters, for their thoughts on it, and the show can be heard across North America - check his website for participating radio stations, and then local listings for exact time and date of broadcast. A number of the stations stream their content worldwide for fans in other countries.

The interview will also be made available from next Monday at www.InTheStudio.net, where you can also find some of his other Pink Floyd specials to stream at your convenience.

Roger Waters - 2012 Wall Tour US/Canada dates confirmed Print E-mail

Roger Waters - performing The Wall Live in 2012Well, after months of rumour and speculation, the North American leg of the Roger Waters The Wall Live 2012 tour has now been announced. Running to some 36 dates, a number of the venues are new to Roger, and some are the previously mentioned baseball stadiums.

Roger told Rolling Stone recently: "There are quite a few markets we didn't cover last time, like Austin, but we want to base the tour around Saturday nights in baseball stadiums. As we speak, I'm at my office working on an outdoor version of the show. We've done light tests at Fenway Park and Wrigley Field and Yankee Stadium just to see what the ambient light is like. And it's fine. It works. We've taken part of the Wall and the projectors into those three places."

For those elsewhere, we have had official confirmation that there are no plans for a European tour, despite the rumours suggesting otherwise.

Without further ado, here's where you can catch Roger in the US and Canada next year:

2011 Pink Floyd pumpkin Print E-mail

Joe Ringus - 2011 Pink Floyd pumpkinRegulars to Brain Damage over the years will know that our friend Joe Ringus is a hugely talented pumpkin artist, and each year crafts a Pink Floyd themed pumpkin for Hallowe'en (which is celebrated by many this weekend but principally tomorrow night).

Joe has finished this year's design, and we're delighted to share it with you here. Tying in nicely with the very recent Discovery, Experience and Immersion edition of the album, this year's features the Floyd's 1973 album, The Dark Side Of The Moon. Joe: "Such a simple design in theory, it's complexity can only be understood once undertaken. Food coloring was blown down the ridges to make the 'rainbow' and a gradation of skin depths created the mix between light through the prism." Click the thumbnail to the left to see Joe's hard, and careful, work in more detail.

Pink Floyd's 1974 Tour Comic with European magazines Print E-mail

The German edition of Rolling Stone Magazine this month (issue 205, cover date November 2011) comes with a nice surprise - polybagged with the magazine is a reproduction of Pink Floyd's 1974 UK Winter Tour programme.

For those that haven't seen this before (or the 1975 US Tour programme, which differs only in the cover paper quality, and the price shown in the top right corner), it's a very amusing comic book, full of daring tales and thrills aplenty from the various band members (Nick as a ship's captain, David on his motorbike, etc.). There's also a nice middle-page spread of a Gerald Scarfe caracature of the band in action.

We do not believe this is included in the Immersion set of Wish You Were Here, so provides an affordable way of getting your hands on this gem. The magazine is in German stores now, priced at €6,90. Our thanks to Werner Haider, our friend over at Pulse & Spirit for the info.

UPDATE: Our friends Alain and Sylvain both tell us that the 1974 Tour Programme also comes with the new Hors Série issue of the French magazine "Inrockuptibles", which has the title "Pink Floyd, la grande odyssée". The magazine features some nice, and seemingly unusual pictures of the band, although the accompanying text is said to be not exactly complimentary to Pink Floyd! The magazine is available now, priced at €8. The 1974 Tour Comic was also published in Slovakia, Jakub tells us. It was included in last week's print of weekly paper Týdeň.

Further UPDATE: Our friends in Italy should keep an eye out on November 3rd, as that day's issue of Panorama has the Tour Book as a giveaway on that day.
