In a typical display of Australian good taste and sense, readers of the Daily Telegraph have voted Pink
Floyd's classic album Dark Side Of The Moon as the best album of all time, in a poll published today (Saturday July 17th). The poll coincides with the 50th anniversary celebrations of rock and roll, with the 1973 masterpiece proving that it still reaches people with its look at life as it affects us all.

As we reported back in March this year, a long-awaited DVD release of the 1985 Live Aid concert, held at
London's Wembley Stadium and JFK Stadium, Philadelphia, is due out on November 10th. The rights for the release of the DVD were sorted out this year, mainly due to chief organiser Bob Geldof's annoyance at the amount of bootleg DVD's flooding the market. Geldof tipped off police after pirated DVDs were found on the internet for £110 for a 10-disc set.
Warner Vision International won the bidding for the rights to produce and release the concert, and the four-DVD set will feature over 10 hours of performances, re-mastered in surround sound and a new
backstage documentary entitled ‘Food, Trucks & Rock N’ Roll’.

We received the news today that Roger Waters will be making two new tracks available soon on the internet, for his fans to download. The two songs, called "To Kill The Child" and "Leaving Beirut", might well be from his forthcoming rock album, due soon (possibly next year now), but might be tracks that he has decided to offer as additional to those that will be found on his new album.
The tracks will be available soon via Roger's own website - RogerWaters.com, iTunes, Sony Connect and other legal digital download sites. The tracks should be available within the next two weeks.
Not having heard the tracks yet, we can only surmise that "Leaving Beirut" will be based on the lyrics Roger quoted in an interview on Icelandic television in July last year, and transcribed elsewhere on this site. We will of course let you know when the tracks are available...
