New Dark Side tribute album in stores Print E-mail

A newly released tribute album - Return To The Dark Side Of The Moon - looks at Pink Floyd's 1973 classic, courtesy of a set of legendary musicians who bring their own touch to the music.

Amongst those contributing to the album are Rick Wakeman, Steve Howe, Robby Krieger, and Adrian Belew, all helmed by the very capable Billy Sherwood. In stores now (and available to order online), BD regular Michael Mastropaolo has reviewed it for us...

Roger's first show live worldwide Print E-mail

With Roger Waters' opening concert on his 2006 tour a week and a half away, AOL UK have today announced that they will be broadcasting the show live, worldwide! The concert promises a blend of old Pink Floyd songs (including a second half devoted to their 1973 classic, Dark Side Of The Moon), and Roger's solo material.

With Roger Waters' 2006 summer tour of Europe starting in exactly two weeks time, we learnt this evening that his friend and former Pink Floyd colleague Nick Mason has been added to a third full show!

David Gilmour on the big screen - reviewed Print E-mail

Tuesday night saw a rather unusual David Gilmour event. Big Screen Concerts aired, for one night only, a special recording of David's BBC concert recording at London's Mermaid Theatre on March 7th, augmented by the EPK for the album, presented in surround sound in movie theatres across the US.

The performance was the first public outing for a selection of tracks from his (then brand new) album, On An Island, alongside Pink Floyd classics.

Floyd rarities available in charity auction Print E-mail

Those with plenty of spare cash in their bank accounts could end up with some very nice, rare Pink Floyd items next week, whilst helping out three very worthwhile charities in the process.

The highly respected auction house Christie's are running a "Pop Memorabilia" sale at their South Kensington branch, and as part of the sale, are a number of items from (the band's late manager) Steve O'Rourke's estate. They are being sold to benefit Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and Winston's Wish, a charity supporting bereaved children and young people.
