Planet Rock radio has joined forces with the rock establishment, Marshall, Pure and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy for a major charity auction of exclusive Marshall edition DAB radios, all signed by rock royalty.
They have had around 70 of the specially souped-up models - which emulate the look of Marshall guitar amps, and even feature a volume control which goes up to 11 in true Spinal Tap style - that are being sold off in an online auction during the month of October.
Amongst the signatures are Pink Floyd's Richard Wright and Nick Mason, Guy Pratt, and Phil Manzanera...

Released October 15th on Rhino is Jools Holland's twelfth studio album in as many years. "Best Of Friends" is a collection of some of his collaborations over his last six albums, and includes his cover of "I Put a Spell on You” with Mica Paris and David Gilmour, whose distinctive guitar style gives the song an entirely different tangent.
The CD also comes with a bonus DVD that includes footage taken from the recording sessions across the Jools & Friends albums, although we don't believe that there is footage of David's contribution on the DVD. The CD/DVD set can be ordered through the following special links: Amazon US/International, Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, or Amazon France. Our thanks to Kees Nijpels for his help.

One of the more popular items that have been promoted through Brain Damage, is Nick Mason's excellent book, "Inside Out: A Personal History Of Pink Floyd" signed with your choice of dedication, by Nick himself.
Even though the offer has been running for quite a while, as at February 2010 Nick is still more than happy to take care of this for you! What better present for the Floyd nut in your life?

UK Radio station Gold's David Jensen recently undertook an interesting interview with David Gilmour, and this is now available as a free downloadable podcast. Go to www.mygoldmusic.com/podcasts for more info on the station and also the podcasts themselves.
Highlights of the interview includes much on his recently released 2DVD set, "Remember That Night" and the associated shows last year, along with what the future might bring, and his earliest memories of Syd Barrett: "...We went up to Paris and went round the Louvre and Syd who was an art student was explaining things to me, going to see the Mona Lisa, and buying the Naked Lunch and the Story of O (books that were illegal in England) from the Olympic Press in Paris, and sitting by the tent on a campsite outside Paris with a torch late at night reading them and... having a lot of great times. So I think of that Syd; the poor damaged chap that came later luckily crosses my mind less..."

German radio station SWR2 recently held a huge public poll to find out the public's view on the 200 best records of all time. Pink Floyd dominated proceedings, easily taking #1 with Wish You Were Here, #2 with The Wall, #6 with DSOTM, and #158 with Animals.
To accompany the results, SWR2 concocted an impressive mosaic of album covers, which viewed as a whole, made it clear which album had triumphed! Click the thumbnail to the right to see the mosaic in more detail, and the poll itself in full. (Thanks to Rolf Siegenthaler for the info!)
