Back in November, we told you that Harry Waters, son of Roger, had been busy working away on his own material. The first album release from the Harry Waters Band is now available to buy, and is a cracking alternative to the music that you might normally listen to.
Enlisting, amongst others, the likes of Ian Ritchie on tenor sax, Chester Kamen on acoustic guitar, and the excellent Yaron Stavi on double bass (Yaron forms part of Phil Manzanera's current band for the Firebird V11 project), the album's style and infectious jazz-centred tunes might take you by surprise!
A very enjoyable album, it can be ordered now through the following links: Amazon UK, Amazon.com, Amazon Canada, Amazon Germany, or Amazon France. Harry's own website, www.HarryWaters.co.uk, includes some audio samples to give you a taster.
For those who can be in London in just over a week's time, you can catch the Harry Waters Band live at the Bulls Head Jazz Club in Barnes. They will be appearing there on June 21st, starting at 8pm, and will be playing two one-hour sets - ostensibly to launch the album properly, so attendees will be hearing a number of tunes from it as the evening unfolds.

Many of you will recall that last year, the online charity website Buy Once Give Twice had a Gerald Scarfe hand-painted guitar celebrating Pink Floyd's The Wall up for auction. More details, and exclusive picture, here. Then, back in February, they offered the chance to kiss Nick Mason!
Now, they have teamed up with Nick again to offer a set of drum sticks and the 14-CD album Oh By The Way box set, both of which are signed by Nick. Bidding for this special pairing ends on June 25th at 3pm BST.
The proceeds of this lot will not only raise money for Scope but also for Charlotte, who has Cerebral Palsey, epilepsy and hydrocaphulas (which is water on the brain). The money raised will go towards specialist treatment for Charlotte which is only available in the USA and will help her learn to walk using spider therapy.
More details of the lot, and how to place your own bid, can be found at www.BuyOnceGiveTwice.co.uk.

The various Amazon online stores across the world have tapped into music lovers' desire to share their enthusiasm with others by creating 'Listmania', in which customers compile their own lists of favourites and post them on the site.
Now, EMI Records have teamed up with Amazon.com to create a competition, the prize for which is a print by Storm Thorgerson, personally dedicated to the winner. The print is the new version of his 'Triangles' design, which takes the triangle/prism motif from The Dark Side Of The Moon and illustrates recurring triangle shapes in various settings - some classic versions of the cover, some very silly (such as the samosa with a blob of mango chutney!). This is an updated version of the poster which came with the vinyl edition of the 30th anniversary DSOTM (still available to buy through this link). The new version features eight different panels to the 2003 version.
All you have to do to be in with a chance of this prize, is to create and publish a list on Amazon.com (you will need an Amazon account) and send the list to:

As part of the celebrations that will no doubt take place throughout the year, to mark the 30th anniversary of Pink Floyd's classic album The Wall, comes a special performance in Prague.
Regrettably, the concert form of The Wall (in 1980 and 1981) was seen just in four cities (London, Los Angeles, New York, and Dortmund) because of its exacting presentation and organization. Almost 30 years later, Filip Benesovský brings what is looking to be a spectacular project, aiming to recreate those original shows. Taking place at the O2 Arena in Prague, on October 31st, it will feature a band of 20 musicians (including Czech rock star Radim Hladík), playing not only modern electric instruments, but also strings and brass. Alongside them will be a childrens choir.
The performance will include quadrophonic sound, giant breeze-blocks, many stage properties, film shots, Czech titles and some surprises. More information at www.TheWall2009.cz, and tickets are on sale now through www.sazkaticket.cz.

With barely a week having past since his previous show (Taken By Storm) concluded at the gallery@Oxo in London, Storm Thorgerson's other, unmissable exhibition, Mind Over Matter: Images Of Pink Floyd, opened in Cambridgeshire at the weekend.
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Storm Thorgerson's first commission for Pink Floyd - the cover for 1968's "A Saucerful Of Secrets" - and the unique relationship between the band and artist, the exhibition travels through time revisiting those significant moments in their musical history.
Running from Saturday, June 6th through to Sunday, July 19th, it is on for just over six weeks, and has on display all the creative results of musical and artistic collaboration between the Floyd and Storm. You owe it to yourself (and to Storm!) to pay the exhibition a visit if you are in the Cambridge area over the next month or so - just check out our review of the show when it was in London last July.
More details of the fabulous book that is the companion piece to the exhibition can be found here.
You can order the book - an essential item for all Floyd fans - at time of writing with a healthy discount, through the following links which help us with our running costs: Amazon UK, Amazon US/International, Amazon Canada, Amazon Germany, or Amazon France.
The exhibition itself is now open, and being held at Babylon Gallery, in Ely, Cambridgeshire. The gallery is open daily (except Mondays) from 12 noon until 4pm and admission is free. For further information, please visit www.adec.org.uk.
