Roger Waters makes it six nights in Milan Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Monday, 20 December 2010

Our Italian friends will no doubt be surprised to hear today that yet another night has been announced for the 2011 Wall tour of Europe. Roger Waters will now be performing at the Mediolanum Forum di Assago, in Milan, on July 7th 2011 for a sixth night, which (at time of writing this!) concludes the 2011 tour. It represents the 60th show in Europe, and the 116th Wall show...

The RogerWaters.com presales start tomorrow at 11:00 CET for those who have already registered their interest in this city at that website, and the general sale of tickets follows via Ticketone.it and other normal agents. Our thanks to Thomas, and to Johnny from Planet Porcupine Tree.

Pink Floyd at Knebworth 1975 - new footage turns up Print E-mail

Some very interesting new footage has arrived on Youtube...there was some French reportage about the Knebworth concert which took place on July 5th, 1975, broadcast at the time, which includes some new footage of Pink Floyd performing live at the concert, amidst the film of the experiences faced by those attending the concert.

As many of you know, concert footage (particularly in this sort of quality) from the mid 1970s is incredibly rare, so this is great (if frustratingly short)! It was broadcast on French TV on July 8th 1975 in the news programme "TF1 13h" on state channel TF1.

Our thanks to Thomas Griesser for this info...and here's the clip itself:

Roger Waters interviewed on US television this week Print E-mail

Monday, 13 December 2010

Those of you in the US should tune in to the Conan O'Brien show this coming Wednesday, December 15th at 11pm Eastern (10pm Central), as alongside Enchanted actress Amy Adams, and indie band Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, is Roger Waters. The official site for the show says that Roger will be there 'to talk about just what "Dark Side of The Moon" was really all about'. Presumably Roger will also touch on a little side project he's got on at the moment (The Wall!) as part of his chat with Conan.

The show airs on the TBS channel, and many of Conan's interviews are later available to watch on Teamcoco.com, which means most of us worldwide should be able to see his chat with Roger. Should be worth tuning into, as Roger doesn't often make these television appearances. Our thanks to Gerry for the info.

UPDATE: Here's the interview:

Roger Waters' Wall backing vocalists announce show Print E-mail

VeniceThe highly-acclaimed Venice, backing singers for the Roger Waters The Wall Live tour, have just announced a special one-off show in Amsterdam, while they're in The Netherlands for The Wall shows. Billed as An Evening with Venice "Off The Wall" they will perform in the famous Melkweg (Milkyway) hall in Amsterdam on Saturday April 10th at 8:15pm. Following the show will be a meet and greet/autograph session. Many of you will know that back on December 4th, they performed their annual Christmas concert in Santa Monica, California, and most of Roger's touring band turned up to help out with some suitably Floyd-flavoured encores!

Of course, this doesn't mean that any of them will make a guest appearance at the Melkweg show... However, the band have won many fans through their Wall show participation, and we're sure it's going to be a popular event. Tickets will go on sale from December 16th from the venue website, and will cost €29. Our thanks to Rik van Orsouw for the info.

Guy Pratt - two London shows in January Print E-mail

Guy PrattIn an effort to banish those post-Christmas blues, Guy Pratt, bassist for David Gilmour, and for the post-1987 Pink Floyd (amongst many others), is bringing his highly acclaimed new show, "Guy Pratt's Wake Up Call" to London for a pair of shows next month. The show is the next instalment of the "bizarre, poignant and often hilarious life of a professional bassist told by a natural raconteur". Anyone who has been to one of Guy's shows will know that it's a cracking evening...

Guy has performed the show in a few places now, including the Edinburgh Festival and the Manchester Comedy Festival. The two upcoming shows will be taking place at the Leicester Square Theatre, on January 11th and 12th. Both shows are at 9:30pm, and tickets are now on sale through the venue website.
