Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Netherlands Arts Centre hosting Pink Floyd Backstage author talk Print E-mail

Kim NorrenSchunck, a government arts centre in The Netherlands, is currently exhibiting with the accompaniment of Pink Floyd's music.

The exhibition, cunningly called "Pink", is the work of artist Kim van Norren. It started a month ago and is due to finish on December 31st, 2012. Norren tends to work with life-size paintings, and also incorporates her own lyrics alongside the Floyd's music, including Us and Them and Another Brick In The Wall.

Amongst their Floyd related activities in August, is a lecture with author Bobby Hassall talking about his experiences. This takes place on August 28th, at 8pm, and reservations can be made online here. Hassall was the author of the excellent Pink Floyd Backstage (reviewed here), which is a fascinating look at the live Floyd experience from a quite unique perspective, so the lecture should be fun.

Three days earlier, on 25th August, there will be live performances mainly focused on Pink Floyd, and you can find out more through this link. The event sounds interesting - the start of the new school year is marked by this presentation where hundreds of scolars of the various school music departments perform in the open air on the Pancratiusplein and also play some gigs in Schunck itself. The central theme is the music of Pink Floyd, to give attention to the Pink exposition of artist Kim van Norren. Her wall sized paintings are also shown in the music school.

This all takes place in the deep south of The Netherlands and very near Germany (Aachen is a big place). More details of the arts centre, and "Pink", can be found at Schunck.nl.
