To help mark the 20th anniversary of the release of On An Island, the third solo album from David Gilmour, a special limited vinyl edition has just been announced and orders are being taken.
Released on what was David's 60th birthday, the album entered the UK charts at number one - his first chart-topping solo album. Included in the long list of guest musicians on the album were Robert Wyatt, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Bob Klose (a member of the pre-Floyd band), Phil Manzanera, Georgie Fame and Jools Holland.
This new celebratory edition from Blood Records is limited to just 3000 copies, and comes in a yellow, blue, white and black splatter. Splatter vinyl releases are created by having the soft lump of vinyl to be used for the LP pushed into coloured vinyl pellets, before the resulting mix is married up with labels, and then flattened into the recognisable and playable record, with the excess trimmed off. Thus, every copy created by this process is unique. If you order this edition of On An Island, it will therefore be a little different to the example shown in the picture to the left.
Orders are now being taken at Blood-Records.co.uk. We expect them to sell quickly so if you are interested, don't delay placing your order.
