Happy Hallowe'en! Regulars to Brain Damage over the years will know that our friend Joe Ringus is a hugely talented pumpkin artist, and each year crafts a Pink Floyd themed pumpkin for Hallowe'en (which is celebrated by many, principally this evening, but in a number of places it covers a number of days).
Those regulars will no doubt be as keen as we have been to see if Joe would be continuing the tradition this year, and if so, what design would be picked. The great news is that Joe has been hard at work yet again, and has done a phenomenal job once again! We're delighted to share his incredible carving with you.
Joe said: "You'll recognize this as one of Gerald Scarfe's animations from The Wall - specifically from "What Shall We do Now?" where this is essentially the "pink" doll crawling out of his skin. Which coincidentally translates quite well to the surface of the orange squash. Happy Hallowe'en!"
Thanks Joe - we think you've done another excellent job! It's a great tradition and we know many of our visitors love to see them. If there are any other pumpkin artists out there who have created Floyd designs, we'd love to see them. In the meantime, click the thumbnail to the left to see Joe's hard, and careful, work in more detail.

Here's some news in particular for our German readership - the new issue of the country's Classic Rock Magazine (cover date November 2015, issue 45) offers some extensive coverage which may be of interest to many of you.
In their cover-featured "50 Years Of Pink Floyd - The Ultimate History On 20 Pages", they take a close look at those five decades, the work and efforts of the band and of course their art. The magazine is now available in German stores and news outlets, or it can be purchased online (shipping to many countries) through this link to their store.
For more information on the magazine, and some of their other features, visit ClassicRock.net. Our thanks to Michael Nickel for letting us know about this.

Announced late yesterday (to a very vocal reaction) was the Super Deluxe Edition of Roger Waters The Wall, which we know a number of you have been holding back on ordering the regular editions, to see what this special edition consists of, and costs, to see if this set would be your preferred purchase.
Without further ado, here are the details of the contents, which are housed in a custom package with hand-applied graphics, and is a limited edition:
- 4 discs of 180 gram audiophile vinyl in red, white, clear and black, with a unique engraving
- Only available in this package, the brand new score by Roger Waters, and the full live soundtrack
- 170 page full colour hard cover book showcasing live and behind the scenes images from the 2010-2013 tour and the film
- 2 CDs containing the full live soundtrack
- 3 Blu-ray discs containing the full feature length film and bonus features: The Simple Facts - A Conversation with Nick Mason and Roger Waters / A new documentary about the making of the tour / Buenos Aires Time Lapse / Athens Time Lapse / A Visit to Frank Thompson / Facebook Films (36 mini episodes) / Comfortably Numb Live at The O2 with special appearance by David Gilmour / Outside The Wall Live at The O2 with special appearance by David Gilmour and Nick Mason
- Download code for digital versions of all music included in the package
Once ordered, customers will receive a hard cover "Save the Date" folio that contains two art prints, which will be shipped in November. The boxes themselves will ship in "early 2016", and they note that the artwork is subject to change. To answer a few similar questions we've had, the box set will ONLY be available from RogerWaters.com/SDE.
Since the announcement, Facebook (in particular, Roger's own Facebook page) has been full of fans' reactions to the set - as has our inbox, which has had a pummelling on the subject. The box set has been fixed at a price of $500 plus shipping and tax (and for many, the package will be subject to import duty and handling fees from their local postal delivery agents) which for some will increase the overall amount by around $200 or so.
We are hoping that some of the exclusive elements within the set (the tour documentary, the Q&A between Nick and Roger, and the book) get a separate release in time, and will suggest this to Roger's team for consideration; in the meantime, we suspect that many people will now push ahead with their pre-orders for the already announced standard editions. Orders for these can be placed through these direct links:
For the audio side of things, below are the links to the physical product. If you prefer things digital, pre-orders can now be placed via this iTunes direct link.

Our best wishes, and many happy returns to Jon Carin, who today celebrates his birthday (Wednesday, October 21st).
The talented multi-instrumentalist has been a key part of the Pink Floyd
operation for many years, first working with David back in 1985 at the London Live Aid show, with both of them in Bryan Ferry's band, and more recently toured with David Gilmour on his On An Island and Rattle That Lock tours, and Roger Waters on his Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall Live tours. This saw Jon as a key member of Roger's band for the mammoth tour, which saw the show
thrill audiences in North and South America, Europe, Australia and New
Zealand, with Jon playing keyboards, guitar and more during the show.
Since then, he spent a whole year working with Kate Bush on her
triumphant return to the live stage, in a sequence of shows which were
held at London's Eventim Apollo from August to the start of October last year. Since then, David's Rattle That Lock came knocking, and he has been a key part of that, and - like Kate's shows - was musical director on David's European tour and the Koko gig on Sunday night. The picture here shows Jon before the September concert in Orange, France, which has been praised as one of the best shows of David's 2015 tour - so far. Jon seems to be constantly in demand, and kept very busy - a testament to what he brings to musical projects.
For those who might have missed it, or want another chance to read it, check out our extensive and exclusive interview with Jon from August 2007.
It's full of fascinating insights into his life and work with various
top musicians, including (of course) David, Roger, and Pink Floyd!
Hope you are having a great day, Jon!

Last night, KOKO - a converted, ornate theatre in London's Camden area - was the scene of I'm With The Banned: Staging a Revolution: I'm With The Banned, the launch event of a set of events to mark the Belarus Free Theatre Festival. The festival is staging a two-week festival of performances at secret underground locations in celebration of the company's 10th anniversary, and preceding these was this solidarity concert of music, performance art and readings as part of the celebrations.
The diverse show united artists who live in political freedom with banned bands from Belarus, and other performers supporting those affected. In particular, and headlining the show, was David Gilmour, who, along with Jon Carin and vocalist Bryan Chambers, performed with Ukrainian supergroup Boombox, who fronted the Maidan demonstrations in Kiev with Okean Elzy and Ruslana. They are now banned from performing in Russia because of their pro-freedom stance.
Other artists on the bill included Neil Tennant & Nicolai Khalezin, representatives of Pussy Riot, Viktoria Modesta, Brutto, and Juliet Stevenson & Jeremy Irons. However, it was clear that many of the capacity audience were there for one main reason - to see David perform (as Modesta acknowledged during her piece to the audience).
With a more basic light show to hand, the audience were treated to a strong Astronomy Domine to start things off on a high note. This was followed by a couple of tracks from David's new album - In Any Tongue, which went down extremely well, and the title track, Rattle That Lock, with the classic Wish You Were Here performed in the middle of these tracks.
Interestingly, Rattle That Lock included a number of backing singers - not just Bryan Chambers, but David's security man, Barrie Knight, David's wife Polly, plus assorted family and friends, all looking to be having a whale of a time. Some pictures from the show will be on this site a little later today.
UPDATE: Our thanks to Peter Chow for sending over the following three spectacular shots from the concert...just click the thumbnails to see the pictures in more detail:
