Royal Albert Hall gig with Roger Waters? Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Tuesday, 06 August 2002

The forthcoming charity show being held at the Royal Albert Hall in London on October 16th (see July's news for more detail) still has plenty of tickets left in all price brackets. Brain Damage is sure that this is in part due to the fact that the line-up for the show is still shrowded in secrecy - including the appearance of Mr Waters. The nature of the charity might also be deterring some who disagree with their aims. We are currently endeavouring to get more information about the show and as soon as we have it, so will you!

Around a week ago, a party was held to celebrate Britain's 100 most sought-after guests, as determined by Tatler magazine. The party, held at the Orangery in Kensington, London, actually failed to attract the majority of those on the list, leaving the likes of a couple on the list, Gerald Scarfe and David Gilmour, to tackle the buffet...

Roger Waters at London charity gig - tickets now on sale Print E-mail

Tickets are now on sale for a charity concert being held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, on October 16th this year. Although the line up has not been confirmed, Roger is VERY heavily tipped to be appearing on the bill. Tickets are priced at £15, £20, £25, £30, £35, £50, £75, £100, and £150.

What might put off some people is that it is being performed in aid of the Countryside Alliance, which supports field sports (hunting with horses, etc.). Certainly in Britain, there is strong opinion on either side of the argument about allowing such activities. Anyway, we've posted an interview with Roger, held on May 13th 2000, which sets out his views on this matter... check it out!

Tickets are available from the box office on 0207 589 8212 (outside the UK: +44 207 589 8212) or from the Royal Albert Hall website.

We hear from a very good source that at least one of the tracks to appear on Volume 2 of Flickering Flame has been sorted - Set The Controls live at Wembley in June 2002, with Nick on drums. If it comes off, a nice little extra to appear.

Nick Griffiths was seen going into Wembley Arena with a large box of tricks, apparently to oversee the recording and mixing of this track for eventual release. Watch this space - nothing is confirmed yet!

The first of Roger's Wembley shows proved to be an exciting event - the rumours of Nick's guest appearance came true when his car swung into the backstage compound at Wembley Arena behind Roger's car. During the soundcheck, Nick ran through Set The Controls, Brain Damage/Eclipse, and (possibly) part of Comfortably Numb.

Come the show itself (which had the band on blistering form - from speaking to those who'd travelled round from show to show on this tour, it was one of the best performances!), Roger halted before Set The Controls for a very special announcement:
