Roger Waters looking for a home Print E-mail

The following report was in the New York Post on August 22nd:

Former Pink Floyd leader Roger Waters and wife Priscilla are looking for more than just another brick in the wall in Manhattan. Sources say he's looking to rent a place for up to $50,000 a month.

There's no word why Waters, said to be worth in the neighborhood of $90 million, would be renting rather than buying. "He's probably recording a new album," theorized a music industry exec. And wouldn't that be a treat.

As founder and driving force behind Pink Floyd, Waters' body of work includes the 1973 album "Dark Side of the Moon," for which the bassist wrote all the lyrics. Some of the music from the album stayed on the Billboard charts for 15 years. "The Wall," the double album that detailed the madness of being a mega rock star, went platinum 23 times over.

Waters left Pink Floyd in 1983, after "The Final Cut". His one major appearance during the 1990s was an $8 million staging of "The Wall" at the site of the demolished Berlin Wall, watched by a live TV audience of more than 100 million. His "In the Flesh" live show - Waters' first world tour in nearly two decades - matches classic Floyd tunes with 360-degree quadraphonic sound, large-scale video projections and an 11-piece band. Waters could not be reached for comment.

Check out the EMI press release for details of David's new DVD (and VHS video) - confirmed as released on Region 2 (Europe) on September 23rd. Looks like our non-Region 2 machine owning friends will need to make their players multi-region, as there is no sign yet of it being released on other regions...

Guy Mason, 10, son of Nick, became the youngest person in the world to wing-walk (literally, walk on the wings of a plane in flight) last year, flying over the English Cotswold countryside. We presume his father wasn't at the controls of the plane, but watching from the ground! Our congratulations to Guy on this achievement.
