UPDATE, July 27th: The photocopier, signed manual, and paperwork sold for a very healthy £390.
Further to our story back on Friday (July 17th) regarding the late Roger ("Syd") Barrett's Brother desktop photocopier - which with just over three days left is attracting eager bidding on eBay - we have more detail on this for you.
The auction (at time of writing, standing at £240) is to help raise money for the charity set up last year by his sister, Rosemary Breen. Complete with the instruction manual, signed by Barrett, the photocopier has
kindly been donated to the Syd Barrett Fund (the new name for the Syd Barrett Trust) by Rosemary and Paul Breen themselves. You can view the item on eBay here, and make sure you also visit www.Syd-Barrett-Trust.org.uk.
After he returned to Cambridgeshire in the early eighties, Barrett focused his interests on art and photography. The photocopier was used to copy notes he wrote for an unpublished book on the history of art, as well as his own photographs. He would often sign his name on his possessions as a mark of ownership, hence why the instruction book is transformed from a simple document to an item of genuine interest.

Peter Curzon, graphic designer and long term collaborator of Storm Thorgerson, undertook an exclusive tour of the exhibition Taken By Storm yesterday (July 18th). The exhibition features their work for Pink Floyd, Muse, The Cranberries, and a number of other top bands.
Taking place at the Gallery Artisan in Brisbane, Australia, this current version of Taken By Storm runs until August 1st, 2009. And, as you will see from the special report our Australian correspondent, John Elliott, has sent over along with a wide selection of pictures, it really is a show worth making the journey to see before it finishes. In particular, Peter was on fine form talking the crowd through various pieces, giving unique insights into them (see below).
And, with all the artworks on display for sale, it is the perfect opportunity to obtain a very high quality print, personally signed by Storm himself...

With Brain Damage starting its life way back in 1986 as a printed fanzine, we know exactly what effort goes into producing a Pink Floyd publication. Friends of ours in Europe have created their own regular magazines about the band, and coincidentally, the new issues of both have just been published.
For those who speak a good degree of Spanish, Animals issue 17 is now available from www.AnimalsPinKFloydMagazine.com. It takes a look at the tragic passing of Richard, last September; David's Gdansk release, Roger's 2008 tour, and more.
Issue 14 of the Italian/English dual language HeYou magazine (an offshoot of the www.HeYou.it site) has just arrived, and it takes a good look at The Wall, 30 years old this year, has a focus on events of 1969, and even has an interview with Harry Waters.

One of the more unusual items that belonged to the late Roger ("Syd") Barrett - a Brother desktop photocopier - is now attracting eager bidding on eBay, raising money for the charity set up last year by his sister, Rosemary Breen.
Complete with the instruction manual, signed by Barrett, a receipt from PC World in Cambridge and a letter of authenticity, the photocopier has kindly been donated to the Syd Barrett Fund (the new name for the Syd Barrett Trust) by Rosemary and Paul Breen themselves.
You can view the copier and the signed part of the manual by clicking on the thumbnails to the left. Please note that the photocopier hasn't been used for quite a long time, and might not work, but nevertheless will be raising much needed money for the Fund.
You can view the item on eBay here, and make sure you also visit www.Syd-Barrett-Trust.org.uk.

Further to our story late last week concerning the guest appearance of David Gilmour on a previously unheard 1992 session track of Rod Stewart's, you now have the opportunity to give the song (and a wonderful rendition it is too!) a full listen prior to its official release in North America on September 22nd, 2009.
"The Rod Stewart Sessions 1971-1998" takes a deep delve into the vaults that results in a boxed set of unreleased recordings. Spanning more than 25 years, the collection's 63 songs, outtakes, and ephemera provide extraordinary insight into the studio work of one of rock’s legendary figures.
