Last year, the work of Gerald Scarfe, the world-famous British icon of social and political caricature - and collaborator with Pink Floyd for various 1970s projects most notably The Wall, and Roger's Pros and Cons - had its Czech premiere at the Egon Schiele Art Centrum in Český Krumlov.
The exhibition of more than 100 large-format drawings and watercolours closed in October 2012, but some great news for our Czech friends: the exhibition is opening at the beautiful Kampa Museum in Prague tomorrow, June 7th 2013 and will run there for some three months. The Museum is situated on the eastern bank of the Kampa Island on the River Vltava.
Assuming the exhibition transfers in its entirety from its Krumlov staging, it should offer the following:
- political and social commentary and caricatures of British and
world politicians, the Royal Family, but also Czechoslovak politicians
from 1969
- cartoons of showbusiness personalities (Woody Allen, Mick Jagger, Madonna...)
- set and costume design for the English National Opera (Orpheus in the Underworld)
- album artwork for the Pink Floyd album The Wall - and the new exhibition poster shows The Teacher (looking a little more like Scarfe
than we've seen previously) to hint at the contents of the show
- designs for the Walt Disney film Hercules (Scarfe was the first outside designer to work with the studio since Salvador Dalí!)
- creation of the title sequence for the Yes Minister series which appeared on BBC television
For more information on the exhibition, and the venue, visit www.museumkampa.cz. Our thanks to Vlado Marcinek for the information.

A new offer has been announced on Pink Floyd's official website: if you have purchased any version of The Dark Side Of The Moon on CD or if you purchased the 2011 remaster at iTunes or on vinyl, you can now unlock a free download of Money (Roger Waters Demo) – previously only available in the Immersion Box Set.
To access the bonus area, visit www.pinkfloyd.com/bonus and follow the on-screen instructions. You'll either need to insert the CD (and it can be any official version that has been released over the years), go to iTunes if you downloaded it, or, if you are an owner of the 2011 vinyl, there was a paper insert with a code on it...

A film-maker fan of Pink Floyd has created a 12-minute animated film based on the tribulations of the band’s lighting director at Detroit's Olympia Stadium, 23rd June 1973. The film, entitled 'Bad Day At The Office', features new, tongue in cheek, animation based on an actual recording of Floyd lighting designer Arthur Max grappling with the technical challenge of working with a brand-new follow-spot crew.
At the time, the venue policy was to use only in-house staff who were more used to covering ice hockey events. The film shows an animated version of Arthur Max having to lick his adhoc team into shape on the hoof, and is accompanied by a live rendition of Obscured by Clouds. Some of you will have heard the audio of this during the fourth of the six part Capital Radio Pink Floyd Story from 1976/77, and will know just how amusing it is as Max figuratively pulls his hair out at the people running the lighting.
Directed by animator Cliff Port and produced by Simone Kay, the world premiere for 'Bad Day at the Office' will be at this year's sold out Glastonbury Festival, in the Pilton Palais Cinema, on Friday 28th June at 11.30pm. As and when we hear of further screenings we will let you know.

Coming in September 2013 is The Gathering Storm - The Album Art of Storm Thorgerson, a new hardback book which collects together a range of album graphics by the late and much missed Storm and his colleagues at Hipgnosis and StormStudios, all of whom worked on the incredible images crafted and enjoyed by music fans of a multitude of bands, across the world.
The book, which Storm was able to see (and approve) shortly before his passing, is - like the previous book, A Raging Storm - published by StormStudios and de Milo, and printed in Italy on high quality paper in full colour over its 256 pages. There's also a limited edition Wibalin "Berry" (mauve) hardback with a custom designed cover incorporating Storm's logo in Luxor block foil.
With artwork created for Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Muse, Peter Gabriel, Wombats, 10cc, Audioslave, Black Sabbath, Biffy Clyro, Genesis, Rainbow, Steve Miller, Pendulum and The Mars Volta amongst others, a wide cross-section of people will no doubt thoroughly enjoy it. Our review, though, will be along closer to publication date.
In the meantime, pre-orders are being taken through the official TGS website for despatch upon publication.

On Sunday, Roger Waters was interviewed by Turkish media concern, Hürriyet, who are looking forward to the arrival of Roger - with his band and crew - for the Wall concert in Istanbul on August 3rd. Tickets for the event are still available through Biletix.com and other official agents.
Roger met with Turkish writer Elif Shafak for the interview in London, and a nearly ten minute section of the chat can be seen here, following an advert for a telecoms company:
Our thanks to Okan Doğu from PinkFloydTurk.net for his help with this information.
