Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Back Against The Wall - 2015 10th anniversary editionNext week, on January 26th, 2015, a special 10th anniversary edition of Back Against The Wall is released. In 2005, Purple Pyramid Records released the ambitious and very well received gathering of progressive rock superstars including members of King Crimson, ELP, The Doors , Jethro Tull, Yes, Toto, Styx and others who came together to recreate Pink Floyd's epic, The Wall. The musicians included such talents as Tony Levin, Steve Howe, John Wetton, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, Vinnie Coliauta and Robby Krieger.

Produced by the multi-talented Billy Sherwood and titled Back Against The Wall, the project garnered tremendous praise and earned its place among discerning fans of both Pink Floyd and the prog rock genre as a whole. Now, 10 years later, Purple Pyramid has put together an expanded 10th anniversary re-issue of the CD set featuring all new artwork and 5 bonus remixes. Plus, for the first time, this recording will be available on vinyl in a deluxe gatefold jacket 2LP set.

We took a good look (listen) to the album on its original release, ten years ago. Certainly, the musicians talent and experience comes through clearly, none of them holding back, in a dynamic and powerful rendition of Waters' 1979 opus. Having heard a number of cover versions of Floyd's material, we weren't expecting this to be as interesting as it has turned out to be.

From Ian Anderson's delicate flute work, underpinning The Thin Ice, through Robby Krieger's eastern tinged guitar work in Empty Spaces, and the powerful readings of tracks such as Another Brick 2, Young Lust, Hey You and the trio of In The Flesh/Run Like Hell/Waiting For The Worms, there are delights to be found around every corner.

You can order the album through the following direct links:

DOUBLE CD EDITION:  Amazon.com  Canada  Amazon UK  Germany  France  Italy  Spain
DOUBLE VINYL EDITION:  Amazon.com  Canada  Amazon UK  Germany  France  Italy  Spain

As a reminder, we don't get any funding to run the site. All orders (not just Floyd related stuff!) placed with Amazon after entering their sites using our links, give a small but vital contribution towards our ongoing site running costs at no extra cost to yourself, and we really appreciate it.
