Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

Pink Floyd - The Endless River (2014) Pink Floyd - The Endless River (2014) deluxe edition

This afternoon, full details have been revealed of the much anticipated The Endless River, Pink Floyd's new album which now has a confirmed release date of November 7th, 2014, in Australia and certain parts of Europe, November 10th in the US, the UK and other parts of Europe, and November 11th in Canada (plus some slight regional variations worldwide). The cover - shown here - already feels like a very suitable image, with typically Floydian restraint, and fitting the title.

The album will be available in three different configurations:

  1. Standard CD: presented in a hard cover bound book package with foil blocking on cloth spine, and a 16-page photo/credit booklet including previously unseen photographs from 1993 sessions
  2. Vinyl: Heavyweight 180 gram vinyl 2LP, mastered by Doug Sax at The Mastering Lab, Ojai, California, and presented in a gatefold sleeve, with full colour inner bags, download card, and a full size, 11" x 11" 16-page photo/credit booklet including previously unseen photographs from 1993 sessions
  3. Deluxe 2-disc box: includes a 24-page photo/credit booklet in hard cover, including previously unseen photographs from 1993 sessions; CD in full colour card wallet with full colour label; DVD (NTSC) or Blu-Ray in full colour card wallet with full colour label; 3 x Collectors' full colour postcards, one of which with 3D Lenticular design. The DVD contains the album in 5.1 Surround (Dolby Digital and DTS), plus stereo version in 48kHz /24 bit. The Blu-Ray contains the album in high resolution 5.1 Surround (DTS Master Audio and PCM, 96/24), plus PCM stereo 96/24. The 2-disc box (DVD or Blu-ray) includes extra non-album audio-visual material (approx. 39 minutes): 6 video tracks and 3 audio tracks, unavailable elsewhere. It includes archive video material and still photographs shot at the original 1993 recording sessions

The Floyd's official website has been completely overhauled, and includes images of the various configurations (also shown here), along with some pictures of the original 1993 sessions, and a short TV commercial and a 30 second audio clip, both giving a flavour of what the album contains within. There's also the track listing, which we have below for you...

The album has been produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth, and Andy Jackson, and consists of 18 tracks, which are as follows:

Things Left Unsaid
It's What We Do
Ebb and Flow

Sum
Skins
Unsung
Anisina

The Lost Art of Conversation
On Noodle Street
Night Light
Allons-y (1)
Autumn '68
Allons-y (2)
Talkin' Hawkin'

Calling
Eyes to Pearls

Louder Than Words

The Endless River has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessions, when David, Richard Wright and Nick Mason played freely together at Britannia Row and Astoria studios. This was the first time they had done so since the Wish You Were Here sessions in the seventies. Those sessions resulted in The Division Bell, the band's last studio album.

In 2013 David and Nick revisited the music from those sessions and decided that the tracks should be made available as part of the Pink Floyd repertoire. It would be the last time the three of them would be heard together. The band have spent the last year recording and upgrading the music, using the advantages of modern studio technology to create The Endless River.

The Endless River is a tribute to Richard, whose keyboards are at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. It is a mainly instrumental album with one song, Louder Than Words, (with new lyrics by Polly Samson), arranged across four sides of vinyl, and presumably on the CD, split into four distinct parts.

Over at the band's Twitter feed some pictures have been posted (three at time of typing this) showing the album artwork on the sides of various buildings, presumably unveiled today in the various locations and posted to Twitter virtually live. If anyone knows the actual locations, please let us know!
