Last month, we brought you the news that Guy Pratt, who very ably took care of bass duties on David Gilmour's On An Island tour, had arranged some more of his fantastic one-man shows. He told us that having had such a great time on the tour, he was "missing the road terribly...", hence the new shows. The even better news is that he's given us a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky BD visitor!

Guy Pratt's November 2006 showsGuy has naturally has added material from David's tour to his show, which now includes anecdotes relating to his work not only with David and the Floyd, but also other luminaries such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bryan Ferry, and Whitesnake's David Coverdale. It has received enthusiastic reviews from many sources, and indeed, our own review of the show can be read through this link.

The shows will all take place at the historic King's Head Theatre in Islington, North London, on 13th, 20th, 26th and 27th November. Tickets are NOW available from the venue box office on (tel:) 0207-226-1916, or from ticket agency Ticketweb on 08700-600-100 (24 hours a day).

For those who haven't seen the show, we urge you to go. At breathtaking pace, Guy brings to vivid life some of the absurdities of life on the road, and the absurd characters, too. An excellent way to spend an evening!

And now to the competition itself... To win the pair of tickets for the show of your choice, courtesy of Guy, you need to answer the following questions correctly:

  1. Where and when was the first Pink Floyd show that Guy played bass at?
  2. True or false? Guy played at Live 8.
  3. Who famously said: "Bass players are ten a penny but a good wit is hard to find, so we hired him."?
  4. Which Australian band gave Guy his big break at the tender age of 19, and who's tour did they provide support for?
If you struggle with some of the answers, you might find it worthwhile to visit www.guypratt.com! Email your answers, together with your postal address, to: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with the subject line of "Guy Pratt", by 11:59pm (UK time) on October 30th. Please note that no correspondence will be entered into, and that the competition mailbox is unmonitored - entries will be checked on October 31st, a winner picked at random by an independent party, and the winner announced here shortly after.

The very best of luck to you all...and thanks to Guy for the great prize!

NOTE: COMPETITION NOW CLOSED AND WINNER IS: Phil Rackley from Birmingham, UK. Well done Phil and enjoy the show!
