Roger Waters to play Glastonbury Festival? Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Saturday, 02 February 2002

The rumours are still strong that Roger (and note: NOT Pink Floyd, despite what Glastonbury owner Michael Eavis has said to various parts of the press!) will be playing on Sunday June 30th, for an hour, before headliner Rod Stewart(!). Tickets and the confirmed line up have still not been confirmed, although it seems likely that you will need a weekend ticket costing around £100, as Sunday-only tickets will be available just to local residents. As ever, watch this space...

UPDATE, February 10th: There have been many rumours that Nick Mason will be guesting at Glastonbury with Roger - how long for (ie whole show/one song?) is not known. Despite it seeming extremely unlikely, a reconciliation between the two was reported at the end of the second part of the BBC Radio 2 documentary this evening. Curiouser and curiouser!

"Psychedelic Renegades", Mick Rock's book of Syd Barrett photos, is selling very well. Genesis Publications report that they have around 20 deluxe (signed by Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett) copies left, and that the regular version is also selling very well. Once all copies are sold (and they are printing less than a thousand) that will be it! So be quick if you want one...

Recently, JP Morgan, Billboard and Soundscan have calculated the top US selling artists since 1991. Nestling in tenth place (behind the likes of N Sync, Kenny G and the Backstreet Boys!) is Pink Floyd who have shifted 26.6 million "units" in the US since 1991. At the top of the list are Mariah Carey (40.4 million), The Beatles (42.2) and Garth Brooks (an astonishing 63.9!)

We've talked about it previously, but the time has now come. Psychedelic Renegades, the Mick Rock book of Syd photos, 320 (deluxe) copies of which are signed "BARRETT" by the man himself (though goodness only knows how they managed this!!!) is now available to order from the publishers, Genesis Publications. A strictly limited edition, handmade, it is priced at £195 for the regular version, and £495 for the signed, deluxe version. Postage charges are extra.

The book is bound to be an incredibly sought after item, as there are but a handful of verified items signed by Syd - secure your copy now to avoid disappointment in years to come.

Tuesday, 04 December 2001

The December issue of Record Collector magazine reports that Roger Waters will "present [Ca Ira] live at Paris' Place de la Concord in September 2002". As yet, there is nothing else to suggest any substance behind this information, but we will of course do our best to find out the current position on this.
