As part of the celebrations leading up to the restoration of the Roundhouse, tours of the building are being offered on May 27th and 28th, as part of the open days there which will see train enthusiasts (it was a locomotive turning shed) rub shoulders with music fans.
Today's Hampstead and Highgate newspaper states that "Nick Mason [has] been lined up to lead guided tours". Naturally, we contacted the Roundhouse, who dismissed this claim which would seem to be wishful thinking on the Ham & High's part. We were told: "As one of our ambassadors Nick Mason has been invited to come along for the tours, but he will not be running them himself".

Universal confirmed to us yesterday that the international release of Roger's Wall Live In Berlin SACD was May 12th, so hopefully you've been able to pick it up from your favourite stores. The UK release has slipped to next Monday (May 19th). We're just completing our review of this hybrid release, comparing between the original double CD, the newly released DVD, and the new CD and SACD layers. Be sure to check back to see what our findings are.

This morning, Brain Damage got its first look at the forthcoming DVD release of the recent BBC "Classic Albums" broadcast.
The rights to releasing all episodes of this series reside with Eagle Vision, who are also the producers of the programme. As mentioned previously, the Pink Floyd/Dark Side Of The Moon episode was an absolute cracker.
Filled with new interviews with Roger, David, Richard and Nick, and lots of previously unseen and unheard material (early demos of tracks, the Floyd performing On The Run live in Brighton, 1972, and more), the program was a feast for the eyes and ears. This release, on DVD and VHS video, will ensure that Floyd fans worldwide will get to see it (legitimately).
We are still awaiting confirmation of the final release dates from our contacts at Eagle, but at the moment it is looking like June 30th for the UK and Europe, and sometime in the Autumn/Fall for the US and Canada. As we get more information on this, so will you!

A station on the XM Satellite Radio service in the US will be airing three hours worth of Floyd special on Sunday, May 11th, beginning at 12 noon Eastern Time. The station is XM 168, called XM Live. The first two hours are titled "Echoes - A History Of Pink Floyd, parts 1 and 2", and the third hour is simply called "Pink Floyd '73".
There are no specific details of what will be included in each of the shows, but the radio station devotes its airtime to live material... Our thanks to Jeff Truax for the heads-up on this one.
UPDATE, May 19th: Michael Soucy has been in contact with us - he caught this broadcast, but sadly the 1973 section was just the same old 1970/71 BBC stuff, including the long version of Atom Heart Mother.

Saturday night saw two great BBC productions - firstly, the History of Psychedelia documentary (part 1) which had one or two nice surprises in it, including an interview with Roger Waters.
The BIG event was the fifty minute TV documentary, "Classic Albums" which covered DSOTM. Every track was profiled from its beginnings through its creation, with interviews conducted with all four members of the band, together with Chris Thomas (mix supervisor) and Alan Parsons, original engineer.
With the exception of Nick, the rest of the band all recreated key segments of the songs as solo pieces, and also we got to see some GREAT footage, such as "The Travel Section" (On The Run) performed live in Brighton 1972 (colour footage of this!!!). With demo's of some of the songs also played, it really was a fantastic production. Nothing from the EPK was shown; it is not yet known if this will be what the forthcoming DVD will offer. A great show - well done, BBC!
