WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD!

Do not read on if you don't want surprises to be spoilt, regarding what the band played!

After a well-deserved two week break following their final night in South America, at the Morumbi Stadium, Roger and his band resumed the tour in the well respected, and recently refurbished, Hallenstadion in historic Zurich.

zurich_pressWhilst the setlist was unchanged from the previous shows on the tour, the concert was reportedly a storming return from the musicians, their break not dulling their abilities. A slight problem with the piggie - it refused to take to the air, preferring to get up-close and personal with the crowd. Hey - what's wrong with a bit of porcine crowd-surfing anyway?!

The local press covered the show, naturally, and to see the report, click on the thumbnail to the left. Our thanks to Ruedi Illi for sending this in to us.

To kick our coverage off properly, here's a gallery of really superb shots from our good friend, Simon Wimpenny. Simply click the thumbnail to launch a larger version of each...

CONCERT REVIEW - by BD contributer, Benoit Nayrac

In 2002, in my review of Paris' concert, I wrote it was certainly the last time for me to see Roger... In 2006, after the Magny Cours show, I wrote on my review that I hope I could see him a last time... And I did it!

After a long trip through Germany and Switzerland and an enormous trouble at the customs beacuse I forgot my identity card (!!!!), Gerard and me arrived at the Hallenstadion during "Set the controls...". We had a nice place on the left of the stage, not as far as in Magny Cours last year and not as expensive (166 EUR for a seat last year and 69 EUR this year)!

It was my fourth (but not last) Roger Waters show after 1984, 2002 and 2006 and all these shows with my father Gerard, Roger's greatest French fan!

A classic show for this first European concert and very similar to 2006.

Few negative points (in my opinion !) : no change on the set list, the same speech before the songs and especially before "Leaving Beirut", and a static or sleeping audience (Swiss spirit?).

Few postive points : all the band is excellent, playback on few songs are not so catastrophic than last year, videos are different, prism and light show are terrific, merchandising is better than in 2006, etc... Roger seems always happy to be on stage. At the end of the show, Roger said it was a special night beause for them because it was the first European show of the tour.

For me "Sheep" is always the best and "rock n'rollest" song from the first part of this show and "Perfect Sense" is very impressive too. I really think "Leaving Beirut" is not the best song in Roger's career and could be replaced by a KAOS song!

All the second part is really better played than in 2006, particulary Graham Broad on "Time". I definitely think Dave Kilminster is really a better guitarist (and singer) than Chester Kamen was on the In The Flesh tour.

Well, in few days I will be in Bercy (with Gérard of course) for the Paris show in the FRONT row - it will be a very special night...
