 PINK FLOYD: 8-TRACKS on vinyl LP, CD and Digital

A new official Pink Floyd compilation project titled 8-Tracks, featuring eight
essential classics selected from the band’s 1971 - 1979 era, has just been announced and will be released on June 5th via Sony Music. The album is available to pre-order in various vinyl editions, on CD and digitally.
The compilation looks to be primarily aimed at the many who are discovering Pink Floyd for the first time, and wish to explore the catalogue without plunging right in. It has a tracklist covering the 1970's - often seen as the 'golden era' of the band - with a line-up of One Of These Days, Wot's...Uh The Deal, Money, Another Brick In The Wall Part 2, Wish You Were Here, Time, Comfortably Numb, and the full version of Pigs On The Wing. This is the version from the 8-track cartridge of Animals; due to the nature of 8-tracks, the song has a bridging solo from new recruit, Snowy White. The only other place it became available was Snowy's 1995 compilation, Goldtop, so it's good to have it included here.
The track sequence has been edited by Steven Wilson using sound effects sourced from the original multitracks to make for a continuous listening experience in classic Floydian style. It's an excellent starting point for new listeners to discover the depth and breadth of Pink Floyd's peerless album catalogue, as well as a carefully curated collection for longtime fans to appreciate.
Pink Floyd 8-Tracks will be released on vinyl (black or a nice light blue vinyl in limited numbers, shown here to the right), CD and digitally. The editions are available worldwide, with the exception of the US - which are all exclusives through Target. Target are selling the CD as an exclusive, along with the vinyl in pink, that comes either with, or without, a special t-shirt (size large) included in the packaging. Target don't currently offer a black vinyl edition - you'll need to go to Amazon Canada or elsewhere to get one of those if you are in the US. Update: Rough Trade seem to be offering the three editions available elsewhere in the world from their US store, listed below.

To be published on September 29th 2026 is Places To Go: A Guide To The Pink Floyd's Cambridge, a fold-out illustrated map and guide charting more than 40 Cambridge locations connected to the lives, music and legacy of Pink Floyd.
Family homes, schools and venues sit alongside record shops, chalk pits and riverside meadows, mapping how Cambridge shaped Pink Floyd and how the band, in turn, left its mark on the city. Syd Barrett and Roger Waters grew up within streets of each other, attended the same school and played the same venues before leaving for London in the early 1960s. David Gilmour, who also grew up in Cambridge and knew Barrett from the local music
scene, would later complete the connection when he joined the band in 1968.
The publishers note that this is a guide to be used on the street as well as read at
home. Each location is accompanied by concise notes placing it within the band's story and Cambridge's cultural history.
With the map and guide written by none other than Glenn Povey - founder and editor of Brain Damage in its fanzine print days from 1985 to 1993, and subsequently author of numerous essential reference books about the Floyd - you are sure of detailed and accurate information. Whilst we've not seen a copy yet, we're sure it will prove an extremely useful, and illuminating, guide to the band's days in the city of Cambridge, whether or not you are planning a visit there.

CLOWNS AND JUGGLERS: THE SONGS OF SYD BARRETT - 2CD, 2LP Coloured and 2LP Black Vinyl editions

This year, to mark what would have been Roger "Syd" Barrett's 80 birthday, a range of celebrations have been arranged, including a concert and a major exhibition in Cambridge, as well as a commemorative double LP and double CD, all of which raising money for mental health charities, with all proceeds donated to them.
First, the concert. A natural choice for the location has been picked: Cambridge Corn Exchange, where he gave his final live performance on February 24th 1972. On October 10th, audiences will experience a special concert featuring Kula Shaker, Soft Machine, Men on the Border, Diana Silveira & The Psychedelic Circus, Radhika and PĂĽnk Floyd, with additional surprise guests still to be announced. The event will also feature an immersive liquid light show by Los Angeles visual artist The Mad Alchemist. Tickets for the concert went on sale at 10am BST on Friday (June 19th) through Cornex.co.uk, the website for the venue, but now appear to be sold out.
The anniversary will also be marked by the release of Clowns And Jugglers: The Songs Of Syd Barrett, a commemorative double coloured vinyl and double CD album on October 9th 2026, featuring new recordings, previously unreleased material and standout live performances celebrating Barrett's enduring influence. The cover has been created by Mark Wilkinson, most known for artwork for the likes of Marillion, but who also did the cover for the 2003 DVD, The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story. Contributors to the album include Kula Shaker, Mystery Jets, Rosalie Cunningham, Pink Floyd, David Gilmour and Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets.
Alongside the concert and album, a major exhibition exploring Barrett's life, art and cultural impact will run from October 3rd–9th at camopen.space. The exhibition will showcase original paintings and sketches by Syd Barrett, alongside prints of larger works. Visitors will also be able to view work by a number of guest artists, including Barrett’s nephew Ian Barrett, Mark Wilkinson, Mick Rock, Spadge Hopkins, Mikey Georgeson, James Wilkinson and Justin Wiggan & Dominick Allen. A programme of talks from leading Barrett biographers will further explore the life and legacy of one of Britain’s most fascinating creative minds.
Neil Jones, co-organiser of the events, said: "Eighty years after his birth, Syd Barrett's influence remains as powerful as ever. His music, creativity and unique vision continue to inspire artists and audiences across generations. It's especially fitting that this celebration takes place in Cambridge, the city at the heart of his story. Bringing together live music, art and a new album on World Mental Health Day is a fitting tribute to one of the city's most extraordinary cultural figures".
Rosemary Breen, Barrett's sister, said: "The family wholeheartedly support these exciting events in aid of mental health charities. Syd would have been so happy and honoured to know his music was still being enjoyed in Cambridge."

 PINK FLOYD: MEDDLE - San Tropez Orange Marble vinyl for National Album Day

Just announced: Pink Floyd are releasing a new San Tropez Orange Marble vinyl edition of their landmark 1971 album Meddle, for this year's National Album Day, via Sony Music. It will be in stores/online from October 17th, 2026 while stocks last, and ordering links are below.
National Album Day is an annual celebration in the UK, with this year's theme celebrating music "Icons" – encompassing legendary, cultural and contemporary artists and recordings.
A pivotal moment in the band's development, Meddle was the sixth studio album by the British rock group, originally released in 1971. Produced between touring commitments and widely regarded as a notable progression from their previous work, the band devised a series of novel recording and writing experiments, which also inspired the album's signature track, Echoes.
Echoes immediately became an enduring fan favourite, regularly played live during the busy five year period of 1971 - 1975, and featured heavily in Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii, with the song split into two halves, to bookend the movie. Echoes was resurrected at the start of the 1987 A Momentary Lapse Of Reason tour for the first eleven shows that year, then for David Gilmour's 2006 On An Island tour Echoes closed the main set of each show. Sixteen years later, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets added Echoes to their set to much acclaim. Echoes is seen as one of the key musical pieces from the band's earlier period, with Meddle a key, essential album. The man behind the Saucers concept - Lee Harris - is performing Meddle in full next March in a set of three gigs at the Half Moon in Putney, London, with fellow Saucer Dom Beken, along with Yaron Stavi and Ged Lynch.
Alongside this, it's also been announced that a newly restored high-resolution version of the iconic Echoes sequence from cult-classic 1973 surf film Crystal Voyager will be available via Pink Floyd's YouTube channel on the same date, October 17th.

 PINK FLOYD: A LIVE SOUND HISTORY - MARK CUNNINGHAM
Exact publication date to be confirmed, but hopefully 2026 A new book is due to be published that should prove a fascinating insight into the audio side of Pink Floyd's development. Written by music industry expert Mark Cunningham, who used to run the magazine Total Production International, Pink Floyd: A Live Sound History is due at some point but to whet your appetites, Mark has given us a sneak preview of what's to come. The book will tell the story of how Pink Floyd pioneered live sound and how equipment manufacturers fought to keep up with the band's demands for better, bigger and higher quality, in tandem with their equally adventurous touring stage productions. It will feature rare images and exclusive interviews conducted by me with key touring personnel and industry figures including Robbie Williams, Phil Taylor, Mick Kluczynski, Andy Jackson, James Guthrie, Buford Jones, Charlie Watkins (WEM), Alan Parsons, Seth Goldman, Bryan Grant and more. A large portion of the manuscript was actually proof-read by Roger Waters who made comments that have informed the content. Solo tours up to and including The Wall Live will also feature, as a way of highlighting the further progression of live sound influenced by the Floyd. At this stage, a firm date isn't available, nor are pre-orders being invited. As soon as more information is available, we will of course update you...

He said that it was called "I'll See You On The Dark Side Of The Moon: Memoirs Of A Lanky Prick" - but this might of course have been Roger having a bit of fun.
