Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

In The Flesh laser spectacular at the O2 - win tickets! Print E-mail

In The Flesh laser spectacularOn sale now are tickets for a special show being held on Saturday, November 28th at the Indigo at the O2, the prestigious venue in the heart of London's Dockland area.

The "In The Flesh Laser Spectacular" is a one-off event that Pink Floyd fans won't want to miss, promising a show featuring earlier Floyd tracks (to many, their "golden era") alongside a state-of-the-art laser system which has never been used in a concert like this.

And, thanks to Brain Damage founder Glenn Povey, we have a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky BD visitor!

With renditions of Pink Floyd tracks from the albums The Piper at the Gates of Dawn through to A Saucerful of Secrets, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall, In The Flesh are a seven-piece band who have been touring to great critical acclaim.

This is an authentic excursion into the Floyd's most creative period from the mid sixties to early eighties, with an impressive sound complimented by saxophones and backing vocalists, and also features the trademark circular projection screen.

In The Flesh combine state of the art technology alongside traditional analogue equipment and original instruments, including valve amps and a Hammond organ (the same model that Richard Wright used no less) that defined the true Pink Floyd sound.

The centrepiece of this particular show, however, is the feature of a spectacular display of full colour, large scale high-powered lasers that have never before been seen in the concert environment. If you haven't seen full spectrum lasers you really are in for a treat. Pink Floyd only ever used green and red single beam generators in their shows (OK, so they had a LOT of them, but this is an impressive bit of kit!). These have been build especially by the same company that supplies lasers to the Classical Spectaculars at the Royal Albert Hall and have NEVER been used by a rock band of any kind on stage anywhere in the world before now.

The band have really gone to town on the instruments as well - guitars, bass, Hammond and even lap steel are all original models as used by the real band. They go for the original mid-Seventies sound and only play material up to and including the Wall.

We've a feeling this is going to be popular...

Tickets for the show are now on sale through www.Ticketmaster.co.uk, or call them on 0844-856-0202. More details of the band can be found at www.FloydFlesh.com.

However, thanks to Glenn we have a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky Brain Damage visitor. Just answer the following simple question:

- Which album originally featured the track "In The Flesh"?

and email your answer over to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with "In The Flesh" in the subject line to reach us by 11:59pm GMT, on November 15th, 2009. One lucky winner will be chosen the following day; please include your geographical location, and a daytime phone number too. One entry per household ONLY please, and the best of luck to everyone who enters!
