Rob Chapman, the author of "Syd Barrett: A Very Irregular Head" is undertaking a small tour giving talks (including one with Barry Miles) and signings of the book. To be published by Faber and Faber on May 6th, 2010, it promises to be "the first authoritative and exhaustively researched biography of Syd Barrett that fully celebrates his life and legacy as a musician,
lyricist and artist, and which highlights the influence that he continues to have over contemporary bands and music fans alike."
With the book running to some 448 pages, it certainly sounds like there is plenty of information that Chapman has brought together to tell Syd's story. We'll have more information on this title in due course, but in the meantime, you can take advantage of up to 37% discount off
the recommended retail price, by pre-ordering through the following
links: Amazon UK, Amazon US/International, Amazon Canada, Amazon France, or Amazon Germany. You can also order it through Play.com to take advantage of their special pre-order pricing, too.
For those who wish to attend one of the talks, you can catch Rob in the following places:
-
Tuesday 11 May - 7pm - Waterstones, Cambridge
- Thursday 13 May - 7pm - Wall of Sound, Huddersfield
- Tuesday 18 May - 6pm - The Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool
- Wednesday 19 May - 7pm - Waterstones, Manchester
- Friday 21 May - 7pm - Waterstones, Bristol
- Thursday 3 June - 7pm - Streetlevel Photoworks, Glasgow (with Barry Miles)
Rob is hoping to arrange a talk/signing in London, as well, but as yet he does not have a confirmed date or venue. These sessions are subject to change; please check with the venue before setting out.
