As with any major campaign, Echoes has been promoted in a number of ways - from a pig floating over the Capitol Records tower in the States (observed by a webcam) to stress toys...

I've been sent some of these images via email and don't know their true origin - so if the copyright for them rests with you and you want them removed or a credit added, please let me know. I just thought them interesting and worthy of inclusion - I don't want to wind anyone up! Cheers...

Stress pigs and cows, UK promo 3 inch x 5 inch toys with silver title logo on their backs:

From November 26th 2001 for 2 weeks, a carriage on the Vincennes- La Défense tube line in Paris features Pink Floyd murals. Music from the band is played every morning and evening.

From a Spanish newspaper, this is from one of the launch parties. However, Q Magazine state that it is the German launch. So...why are the Spanish reporting on it (apart from the fact of it featuring naked botties?)

Over to James Guthrie:
"It really seemed that the album should have a proper title and not just be released as "The Best of Pink Floyd" (far too subjective). It occurred to me that "Raving and Drooling" was a good title and I put that on my first mock-up. Needless to say the title didn't make the cut, though it was well received by some. (As hardcore fans will know, "Raving and Drooling" was the original title of the song "Sheep".) "Eclipse" was the title on my second mock-up, but in the end "Echoes" (Roger's title) seemed appropriate and upset fewer people."

Roger revealed at the London Press Conference in October that David's favoured title for the album was "Some Of The Parts" which might not have travelled too well internationally...depends on knowing the phrase that this is a pun on.

In order to spark some debate, here (in no particular order) is a list of some of the songs that were also considered for "Echoes". Is your favourite not even on the "short list" below that didn't quite make it?

  1. Brain Damage

  15. Scarecrow
  16. Chapter 24
