Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release and cinema/IMAX screenings, and a book, 2Blu-ray, 3DVD, 4LP, 2CD and deluxe box set options have now been announced.

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

Wright/Gilmour radio/TV broadcasts - on demand details Print E-mail

The last few days featured a selection of shows on the television and radio in the UK and US, that were either tributes to the late Richard Wright, or focused on David Gilmour's newly released Live in Gdansk. If you missed any of these, we've got details of how to view or hear most of these on demand via the internet (in some cases, dependent on which country you reside in).

On September 26th, Later... With Jools Holland on BBC TV in the UK featured David Gilmour and his band, performing Remember A Day and The Blue in tribute to Richard Wright. The Blue, incidentally, included Polly Samson and Dick Parry on piano, although little could be seen of them on camera, especially on the full-screen version of the broadcast (the widescreen broadcast showed them a little clearer though towards the edge of the picture).

For those who missed the performances, and the interview that David did with Jools on the show, (and don't want to see it via the poor quality versions on Youtube) you can view the show up to and including Friday, or download it in high quality to watch over the next 30 days, via the BBC's iPlayer service, or on Virgin Media's cable TV service. Both of these are just for those in the UK though.

On the same evening, digital channel BBC4 TV had an hour from the Gdańsk concert, 30 minutes from the Gdansk Diary documentary found on the concert DVD in the LiG retail package, and also a repeat showing of The Pink Floyd Story: Which One's Pink? All of these can be viewed using the iPlayer as well.

On September 28th, UK digital radio station Planet Rock broadcast an interview with David Gilmour, conducted by Guy Pratt, aboard David's Astoria houseboat. It's a relaxed, and interesting chat between the pair, concerning the Live in Gdansk release, and it can be listened to - around the world - for the seven days following broadcast via this link at PlanetRock.co.uk.

Also on September 28th, the rock radio station of the RTBF (Belgian National Radio & TV Network) aired a two hour Classic 21 interview and special on the new David Gilmour album "Live in Gdansk". They also talked about Pink Floyd, David's solo albums, his collaborations with Paul McCartney, Kate Bush, Paul Rodgers, Peter Cetera, and also about his main influences as a guitarist.

The show is available to listen to, or to download - worldwide - via the www.Classic21.be website or by using this direct link.

Finally, on September 29th, the respected US radio show In The Studio presented a complete, unedited never-before-heard interview by the presenter Redbeard with Richard Wright as a tribute to him. "Echoes: Richard Wright Tribute 1943-2008" featured an exclusive interview from 1994 where he talks about his entire career with Pink Floyd, his favourite albums, his leaving, his rejoining late during the making of Momentary Lapse, and his hopes for the future of the band.

From Monday, October 6th, InTheStudio.net will post the entire interview on the website for download, for those around the world who weren't able to tune in on one of the participating radio stations.
