Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info! Before all that though is the release of Roger Waters This Is Not A Drill Live In Prague on 4LP vinyl, Blu-ray, DVD, 2CD and digital on August 1st!

Nick Mason - Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd (2017 edition)Six years ago, we brought you a review of the revised, 2011 edition of Nick Mason's "Inside Out - A Personal History Of Pink Floyd". The original hardback book was a big hit with fans and critics alike for the candid and in places, incredibly amusing text looking at the rise of the band. The original paperback, released in October 2005, brought matters up to date with Nick's personal view of the band's reunion with Roger Waters for Live8, which included some new pictures, too. An entertaining audiobook, read by Nick, was published at the same time. The 2011 edition included more events and thoughts from Nick's perspective.

Nick has been revising the text even further, taking into account activities from the most recent years, and a new, 2017 edition of the paperback - released to coincide with the opening of the Floyd exhibition in London at the V&A - has just been published.

In this expansion to the book, the 2010 Hoping Foundation show by Roger Waters and David Gilmour is discussed, as is the eventual guest appearance by David and Nick on one of Roger's O2 Wall shows. As Nick put it, "At least we were on a stage together, even if our selection of instruments might have struggled with a reworking of Echoes"...

Nick's involvement in the 2011 Why Pink Floyd programme, and separately, the Featured Artists Coalition, is covered, and this leads to the circumstances and work undertaken for The Endless River release. This is analysed in some detail, via a small excursion to the London Olympic Stadium, where Nick drummed for Ed Sheeran, performing Wish You Were Here to a worldwide audience for the 2012 Closing Ceremony.

Finally, to bring matters right up to date, Nick talks at length first about The Early Years 1965-1972 project, then The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains, including a mention of the ill-fated Milan staging which was due to happen in 2014. Thus, the book brings us to what Nick ponders might be the end of the story, but with a typical wink and "a quiet but insistent 'BUT you never know...'"!

The original hardback edition was essential enough for Floyd fans, and each revision has made 'Inside Out' even more indispensable. This really is the perfect time to fill the hole in your collection, either getting the book for the first time, or getting this edition to find out the latest thoughts from our favourite drummer.

You can now order the book from the following retailers: Amazon UKAmazon FranceAmazon GermanyAmazon.com and Amazon.ca, all of whom will ship the book worldwide if you aren't in the countries above.
