Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1968WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

The stunningly restored and remixed Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are now here - with some more cinema screenings in selected places. However you experience it, it is NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Waters track on new Ennio Morricone tribute album Print E-mail
Written by Matt

ennio morriconeLost Boys Calling, a track specially written by Roger Waters for the soundtrack of the movie "The Legend of 1900", is amongst the songs found on a tribute to a highly respected composer. "We All Love Ennio Morricone" is released by Sony Classical on February 20th, and includes some additional music linking each track.

The all-star tribute album celebrates the music of the revered Italian composer, performed by some of the greatest names from the worlds of contemporary pop, rock, jazz, and classical music. The release ties in with Morricone receiving an honorary Academy Award (Oscar) on February 25th, and with his North American concert debut, which takes place at New York's Radio City Music Hall on February 3rd (this Saturday).

The album brings together seventeen interpretations - most of them newly recorded especially for this collection - of Morricone's best-loved film scores and other musical pieces showcasing the extraordinary range of the composer's influences and sensibilities.

All of the artists participating in We All Love Ennio Morricone have a special connection to Morricone's music. Many of them have previously recorded Morricone's songs, performed his music onstage, or used his pieces as overtures to concerts, including Celine Dion, Quincy Jones featuring Herbie Hancock, Bruce Springsteen, Andrea Bocelli, Metallica, Yo-Yo Ma, Renee Fleming, Daniela Mercury, Eumir Deodato, Dulce Pontes, Chris Botti, Vanessa and the O's, Denyce Graves, Taro Hakase, and of course, Roger Waters featuring Edward Van Halen.

we all love ennio morricone Commenting on the new CD, Morricone said, "You realize that you have composed important music when someone, somewhere is playing it. I am however astonished, obviously in a good way, that famous artists from the musical world have paid tribute to me by participating in the project, We All Love Ennio Morricone, that brings together my most well-known compositions in different versions and fascinating interpretations thanks to the different musical origins of the various artists. My thanks to everyone, I am deeply honored."

In addition to three orchestral tracks - "Gabriel's Oboe," "The Tropical Variation" and "Cinema Paradiso" - performed by Ennio Morricone, the composer has created transitional pieces for We All Love Ennio Morricone to seamlessly connect the individual tracks into a continuously flowing listening experience.
