Brain Damage and A Fleeting Glimpse

Pink Floyd 1987WELCOME TO THE 26th YEAR OF BRAIN DAMAGE, YOUR PINK FLOYD, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON, SYD BARRETT, RICHARD WRIGHT AND ROGER WATERS NEWS RESOURCE!

It's 2025! This year sees the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, which is an incredible thought; where does the time go?!

We now know that Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII on Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP, DVD, digital and cinema screenings are on their way, with the releases on May 2nd, and the cinema screenings shortly before. NOT to be missed!

There's also been three Record Store Day releases released on April 12th, from David Gilmour, Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets, and Roger Waters which are also definitely worth tracking down, either in a participating store, or online, now that RSD has finished.

Last year, David Gilmour's superb new album, Luck and Strange, was released in a variety of formats, and a selection of coloured vinyls. A limited number of concert dates thrilled crowds in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, and Los Angeles and New York, USA. Rome shows were filmed for release at some point...watch this space!

The Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets 2024 Set The Controls tour revealed a band in even better form than the 2022/23 shows which managed to exceed everyone's hopes and expectations! Our sincerest hopes are that they continue, but in the meantime, there's the RSD release, and the earlier live recording from London's Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD/2CD, and 2LP which is really excellent.

Of course, Roger Waters read three extracts from his memoirs in October 2023 at the London Palladium, so it might not be too long before that is published...he's also working on his new album based around The Bar - we'll let you know as soon as we get all the info!

Update on Vernon Fitch's book about Pink Floyd's The Wall Print E-mail
Written by Matt
Friday, 06 February 2004

We were contacted yesterday by Vernon Fitch, who has written a book about The Wall, as previously reported on these news pages over the last six months or so. Vernon's long-awaited book, not now being published by Reynolds & Hearn (who are issuing a different book as previously reported), will be released by a different publisher later this year. Here is the description that Vernon wrote in May 2003 for the back of his Wall book:

"Pink Floyd-The Wall - An Examination of Rock's Conceptual Masterpiece is an in-depth look behind Pink Floyd's The Wall. Released in 1979, The Wall is the best selling double album of all time. In 1980 and 1981, The Wall was performed live in an elaborate stage presentation, and in 1982, the groundbreaking Alan Parker film, Pink Floyd-The Wall, was released to critical acclaim worldwide. No other rock album has successfully been translated to record, concert, and film.

The narrative of The Wall is the creation of Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters, who based the story on incidents from his life and his years of experience in the music business to create a fascinating story about a fictitious rock star named Pink.

This book examines all the various aspects of The Wall in detail, including its origins, the studio recording sessions, the staging of the live performances, the shooting of the film, and The Wall Live in Berlin, the final performance of The Wall to date."

More details of this as we get them.
